You might just want to buy a used router on ebay and use the power adapter from it. Plus you end up with a spare/backup router.

From the prices I found online for that part (and most people had none in stock) it would be your quickest solution.

Sounds like Radio Shack sold you a bad power adapter or an adapter that doesn't meet the power and current requirements of the modem. Bring the old power adapter and the new one back to Radio Shack and tell them to get you one like the old one.

I cannot stay connected to internet, my model 2701HG-B 2wire at&t dsl will start flashing red then disconnect me from the internet or my game site, how can i get this to stay fluently connected please!

You might want to try disconnecting everything EXCEPT the power cord. If you still get the red power light (it should stay there forever) then bring the gateway to Radio Shack or somewhere they have a 5 volt DC @ 2 amp power supply and plug it in for 5 to 10 minutes and see if the power light then stays green. If it stays green then all you need is a new power supply! If not, then the gateway is fried. Mine keeps going from a solid green power light to a flashing green power light and I can hear a relay click every 2 minutes at which time a pop-up say "ethernet line disconnected". I tried new power supply etc. to no avail! It is fried after 1.5 years! No more 2wire for me!

Check your current rating on the OEM power supply.. I think your power supply needs 2 amps at 6 Volts. The cheap ones at radio shack are usually only 2 ma.

Anyon know of a power supply cord for a gateway 2-wire modem for a 1800 gateway

I ran into the same problem; not many people can seem to find a power cord for these things.
I went to Radio Shack, and was told that no such replacement cord exists anywhere. I had a hunch that this guy was full of poo, so I went to the Radio Shack across town. Lo and behold, they had what I was looking for.
Just take your 2wire modem into the store and ask for a 3-7.5v 2A AC adapter. They may be hard to find, but they are around. Don't forget to make sure they give you the correct tip for the modem.

Hope this helps,
Jon

Looking for a power cord

Hi guys,

Had the same problem yesterday. Went to Radio Shack and picked up a universal power adapter (Model 273-1696). It can be set for 6V and will draw the required 2000mA. Box does not include the right size plug, but the salesman gave me one that fit for no extra charge. Cost 32.99. Everything is working fine now.

2Wire Power Supply

My 2Wire just died - I did not know because of the adapter or the router.
I went to Radio Shack to buy what Glen Smith suggested. They do not have them -
I bought Enercell 3/5/6/6.5/7/7.5VDC 2A (Serie 2730333) - plus using old Adaptaplug (I took from other Universal AC Adaptor). AND IT WORK !!!
