Re: I am having problems with my dsl router
Id say yes it can be done by folowing these steps on both xboxes
1. Make sure your wireless router is correctly connected to your Internet access and is broadcasting the wireless signal.
Connect the Xbox 360 console to a Microsoft-manufactured WiFi adapter with a USB connection. This is different from an older Xbox console, which required an ethernet connection.
Turn on the console and navigate to the Wireless Settings menu. Go to "System - Network Settings" and then finally to "Edit Settings."
Configure the console's SSID to match that of the router. The SSID will be pre-selected and appear on the Xbox's display if the router is set to broadcast the SSID. Go to "Specify Unlisted Network" and enter the SSID.
Set the Network Mode to "Infrastructure."
Set the security of the Xbox 360 to match the router's security. Set the console to WEP or WPA encryption, whichever one the router uses, and enter the router's encryption key.
Save all your settings after configuring them. Confirm that the console is connected to the network by going to the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option. This will tell you if your wireless connection is working.

D-Link routers empower gamers to easily connect their Microsoft xbox to
network and experience lag-free online gaming. All you need is a D-Link
router to go along with your broadband connection and xbox Live
subscription and you can go head to head with friends and adversaries
from around the world.
The D-Link DI-624 Wireless Broadband Router, DI-614+ Wireless Broadband
Router, and the D-Link DI-604 Broadband Router have all passed the tests
for compatibility with Microsoft xbox Live with specific firmware. Just
download the specific compatible firmware listed below to your D-Link
router before connecting to xbox Live.
This is beacuse there is NAT on the router for which you need to open certain TCP/UDP Ports on the router . but firtstly you need to Bridge the Verizon DSl Modem set up the internet connection as per same .
Did you get a router, the dsl modem it self wont do much good, you need a router so it can assign your xbox an IP address. You need to have a router hooked up to the DSL modem, and the xbox hooked up to the router.
If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.
Access the routers setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 (ip address of the router) on the address bar on IE.
then on basic setup page at the bottom part of the page you will see MTU normally its on auto,
to change the value set it to manual. ask your isp what is their prefferred value for the mtu you can go as high as 1300 to 1500.
You must assign a static IP address on the Xbox 360 that it is outside of the Zoom X6 router's DHCP pool. Also, the Xbox 360 must be in a DMZ. This will prevent the firewall of the router from blocking connections to the Xbox 360.
Assign a Static IP address on the Xbox 360 console:
Power on your Xbox 360 and go to the System area.
Select Network Settings and then Edit Settings.
Select IP Settings. The Edit IP Settings screen opens.
Select Manual and then enter the following settings:
IP Address: 10.0.0.150 (or any 10.0.0.x IP address, where x is between 100 and 250)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Select Done, to go back to the Edit Settings screen.
Select DNS Settings. The Edit DNS Settings screen opens.
Select Manual and then enter the following setting:
Primary DNS Server: 10.0.0.2
It is not necessary to enter a Secondary DNS Server.
Power down your Xbox 360.
Access the Zoom Configuration Manager:
From a computer that is connected to the Zoom X6, open a web browser and type http://10.0.0.2 in the address line and then press Enter (or Return).
Enter the User Name and Password (in lowercvase letters):
User Name: admin
Pasword: zoomadsl (where "l" is a lowercase letter L)
Create a Virtual Server rule to put the Xbox 360 on a DMZ:
In the Zoom Configuration Manager, click on the Advanced Setup icon at the top page.
Click on the Virtual Server/DMZ button.
On the Virtual Server/DMZ page, enter the following settings:
Internal IP Address: 10.0.0.150 (or whichever Static IP address you selected per Step 1)
Start Port: 0
End Port: 0
Click Save Changes
Click the Enable box, if you have this option.
Click Write Settings to Flash
Plug the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter in to the Xbox 360 console. If you are not sure how to do this, please refer to the manual that came with the Adapter.
Select the Zoom wireless network on the Xbox 360. (Note: The following steps assume you have a working wireless network with WEP or WPA security enabled and you know the Key and SSID of the network. If you have not done this, please refer to theFAQ on setting up a wireless network with the Zoom X6.)
Power on your Xbox 360 and go the System area.
Select Network Settings and then Wireless Network.
Enter the SSID of your network
Enter the Security Key for your wireless encryption. This must be either WPA or WEP. If you use WEP, you must enter the HEX digits for the Key you are using.
Power the Xbox 360 off, wait a few seconds, and then power the Xbox 360 back on.
Go to the System area.
Select Network Settings.
Select Test Xbox Live Connection. If everything is configured correctly, all the tests will show Pass.
Congratulations! You can now enjoy your Xbox 360 with Xbox Live.
if you want to play online, with other people i am assuming? then what you would want is xbox live. you do have to setup a stable internet connection in order to connect to the internet*. and also you do have to pay a membership fee in order to stay in xbox live.
* and if you want to connect xbox live, you need a cable or dsl connection, either you need an ethernet cable or a pre-tuned wireless usb that is made only for the xbox 360. and also, you would need a cable/dsl company that is accepted by xbox live. and then go to the xbox 360 dashboard, then, click "join membership",
setup an ethernet connection either directly, or with a router/hub, then go the system settings, and click, "computers" and then click connect. but this path way is only to create a connection to the computer.
