Question about Samsung SyncMaster 712N 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

3 Answers

Display on monitor is rotated 90 degrees.

I think perhaps the cleaning lady may have somehow been responsible for this. I've rebooted. Initial Windows display is oriented correctly, but after that it is rotated 90 degrees. How do I correct orientation?

Go to the main menu on the monitor itself. Adjust either the vertical and horizonal position, or orientation

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If you are using a Samsung monitor with this feature, then possibly the MagicRotation has been engaged to display as you described. Corrective steps involves right clicking on the Menu at the Task bar and select Rotate to 90° or Rotate to 0°.

Alternately for Vista:

  • the screen rotation option is in Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Tablet PC settings, Display tab
  • select portrait or landscape mode.
This would largely depend on how your Control Panel is organized. In some instances, you may have to look around to find it.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Some wide-screen monitors have a "rotate" option in the software that comes with the monitor -- you physically rotate the screen 90 degrees, and then Windows will rotate the entire "desktop" so that you now have an "extra-tall' screen, instead of an "extra-wide" screen.

Many graphic cards enable you to rotate the screen up to 360 degrees. You could try to post this question again under you graphic card model instead of computer screen model as it is your graphic card that is certainly the problem.
