What may be easy to you and me darkchild IS usually tricky for the average end user. Just pulling out the battery doesn't always remove the bios password. Most laptops nowadays store the bios password on a chip and pulling the battery won't clear those types of stored passwords or HD passwords either, so keep this in mind.

I read on a forum that most Medion laptops use this bios password:

Give it a shot.

So it was a Windows password and not a bios password, right?

I'm glad you sorted it out either way. Best of Luck! Oh and I would recommend you downloading a copy of AVG Free to avoid viruses in the future!

Not sure whats so tricky is really rather simple the laptop must come apart there is a battery on the mother board it must be removed for aboput 10 minutes this will total clear the bios replace the battery and reassyemble laptop if that dont fix it you may need to flash the bios to repair it.

Clearing bois password

Acer laptops are equipped with a BIOS utility.
The BIOS (which stands for "Basic Input Output System") acts as an interface between the hardware and software installed on the computer.
On some computers, a BIOS password may be required in order to boot the computer and make changes to the BIOS settings.
If you are unable to access the BIOS settings and do not know how to reset the BIOS password, you might be tempted to send the computer back to the manufacturer for repair.
Fortunately, that's not necessary as there is a simple way to do this on your own.

Go to "Start," then perform a search for "Command Prompt."
The Windows Start button is located in the lower-left corner of your computer screen.
Double-click on "Command Prompt" to open the application.
You will need to use MS-DOS commands to reset the BIOS password.
Type the following commands one by one in the order shown:
o 70 2E
o 71 FF
Make sure that you are typing the letter "o" and not a zero at the beginning of the second and third commands.
Reboot your computer by clicking "Start," "Shutdown," and then "Restart."
The BIOS password will now be reset to default.
you could download all of these or just one save them to a usb drive for later use if one fails to remove the password
At some stage you might need to press Ctrl+Enter rather than just Enter if on a Dell Latitude E5410
A CMOS BIOS password recovery tool
Editors note: This tool should only be used by experienced computer users.
Please see the enclosed read me if you would like to run it from Windows.
Failure to follow instructions (from Windows) will cause your anti-virus to flag this as a virus.

Emachines e525 bios password

After hours of searching I finally found a fix:
1. Remove the battery
2. Remove the HDD
3. Removed the RAM to make the solder points, marker 'J1' on the motherboard visible
emachines-e525-bios-password-bueb2fgw15ei4wj3vksvhmc2-2-1.png 4. I then used a paper clip and sticky tape to join these solder points
5. With the solder points joined, insert one stick of RAM and turn the machine on
6. Wait until the laptop is in a post BIOS state (past the screen where you can press F2 for setup and where the logo shows) and remove the paper clip. This has to be removed while the laptop is still on.
7. Turn off computer, press F2 to enter BIOS and you should find there is no password.
Repeat the above steps if you find this doesn't work.

Laptop is asking for a boot password

You need to clear your CMOS settings, where the password is stored. It is volatile memory, but there is a small hidden battery that keeps the memory stored. You need to temporary remove it.Remove the small plastic cover on the bottom where your RAM/Hard drive reside. It should be a single screw. There will be a small 3v Lithium Ion coin battery in there. Remove that battery, remove your laptop battery, and unplug your power adapter. Leave it all unplugged fora couple minutes, put it back together, and your password will be gone.

I had installed a bios password on my Compaq Evo N400c, which i have forgotten, i need to make my CD as 1st boot device so need to reset its Bios password.

I found this fix for your problem on

If you have lost your BIOS password(s), then you can clear them by removing all power from your laptop for a while.

I think you are familiar with how to enter the BIOS - but if not - look here:

You may need to consult the Maintenance & Service Guide for your N400C to find and remove the RTC battery. You can access that and all the documentation for your notebook here:

This is the procedure to clear the Set-up (BIOS) passwords:
(1) turn off the computer.
(2) If it was in a docking bay, remove it.
(3) Disconnect A/C Adapter.
(4) Remove main battery pack (and the secondary battery if one is fitted.
(5) Disconnect the Real Time Clock (RTC) battery from the system board. (You'll need to remove the palm rest and keyboard to do this - there are clear instructions and pictures in the Mtce & Svce guide referenced above. You should see a tiny white plug on the end of the RTC coin cell leads. Disconnect it - you do not need to remove the RTC battery.)
(6) Now wait 30 minutes. (The 5 minutes quoted by HP in some of its manuals is not enough)
(7) Press and hold down the laptop power button for 1 minute. (This is intended to clear any stray voltages or static that's still around)
(8) Reconnect Real Time Clock battery and re-assemble laptop. (BUT DO NOT re-fit the main battery yet.)
(9) Hook up the A/C adapter and turn on the laptop. System should boot up OK - press F1 or F10 while on Compaq splash screen (ie before windows starts to load) to access BIOS.
(10) All passwords should now be cleared. Check you can enter BIOS OK. It should be restored to Compaq default settings with no power-on or admin passwords.
(11) Now you can re-insert the main battery (and secondary battery if you have one)
(12) Now reset date, time and other BIOS settings as you want them to be.
(13) If you set any passwords - make sure you keep a note of them somewhere safe but outside the laptop !!!!

Hope this helps

Windows has a .dll boot-up problem, bios is inexecable, can only boot from hard drve and not from any other drive, need too reset bios or something. thanks

hi you can normally reset the bios by locating the on-board battery under the notebook, or by removing the keyboard if it is that model and remove the bios battery for a few seconds and that should clear any settings in the bios including the password to enter it, then replace the battery and re-boot the system , press either F2 or del to enter the bios while booting...hope this helps

Cant enter laptop at all

Does it start to boot Windows, or does it ask for the
password before Windows starts to boot?

There may be a password set in the BIOS, to clear that, open
the case and remove the CMOS battery.
