Check that the power supply is the correct one for the laptop, check that the power requirements of the laptop match up with what is being supplied by the power supply.
if the labels match, for Toshiba the usual supply voltage is 15VDC, if the supplied voltage is 1 volt below recommended the battery will not charge.
If all appears correct then check the output voltage with a multimeter it should read 15V (-0.25V +1V).
If the power supply is a bit low you'll need to buy a new or used one.

Back up a little bit and tell us if the screen shows anything at all. If it does not coupled with the lights that are flashing, you have a loose cpu or the cpu is bad.

Laptop will only charge when sidewards pressuse is put on connection at back of laptop

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

My toshiba satellite l35 wont turn on,,,the light blinks then shuts off ,,,thats all it does

You may have a DC connector problem:

Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it

I have a toshiba satellite pro, i use for a 2 days and then it never turn on again. i try everything still not coming on. i need help please its a seccond hand laptop.

Try removing the battery and using just the power supply first, if this works then it is a battery fault, is that doesnt work then try another power suppy or get your power supply tested, if not either of these, then it may be the PSU connector inside the laptop

My toshiba satellite a200 will run with the battery but when i take the battery out and plug the laptop into the wall to see if i get any power, i am not able to power on the computer

Hello, does the battery charge when you plug into the wall ? If it doesn't then your AC cable has a problem and I suggest that before we conclude on that solution you try plugging into another wall to see if it works first. But if the response is still the same then your AC cable has a problem and you should change it as soon as possible. I hope this solution is helpful. Have a wonderful day.

My charger does not power up my Toshiba Satellite A305, is it the motherboard?

Have you tried running it without the battery?
  • If this works, then the battery has died. Replace it or run on p/s alone.
  • If not, and the power supply is definitely working, then the laptop itself needs repair.

Laptop won't run on ac power and keeps shutting down

Check that the AC power works, go to a repair shop and test a different one or have voltages checked with a multimeter.

If the AC adapter is fine, then it is usuall because AC socket solder joints on laptop are broken. In this case , it is a delicate repair, and must be done by an expert repairman.
