New computer, router dropping sites?

I recently replaced my old powermac with an imac. we have comcast cable internet and the router drops many of the sites which i was able to get before. This drops the signal from all the computers in the house then. After repowering, I can get online, but again, many of the sites i used to get, I can't get now. Thoughts>

Log on to the router and make sure that these sites haven't been placed in a block list for whatever reason.

Check the Netgear website for firmware updates required.

Hulu and Netflix etc will not stop buffereing every minute or two....

Note that "buffering" occurs when the "stream" (audio and/or video) is not being received as fast as it is being consumed.
Find a "network speed test" web-site, to see if your Internet connection is working properly. Try different Ethernet cables, to ensure that a bad cable is not causing any problems. If you have other computers on your in-house network, turn them off, to see if they have been "heavy" users of your Internet connection.

Dropping internet connection

Yes like all equipment a router can go bad. Watch the lights and try to see if it is power cycling when you loose connectivity. Some other things to look at would be: Have you moved it?New wireless device nearby (like a new cordless phone)Has someone in the area put in a garage door opener recently? The list goes on and on, however if you have not had any changes the router could be bad.
I hope this helps

We have comcast as our internet provider. We have

Do you have a cordless phone? If so and it operates on the 2.4 gig frequency it can cause interference. Bluetooth devices and even some cell phones can interfere as well and believe it or not....microwaves sometimes can as well.
The 2.4 gig frequency is a very crowded area and there are a lot of factors that can cause you to drop off line. Try to take note of any of these factors that might be in use or present at the times you are dropping and you might find the root of your problem.

Good Luck and please rate this info....

Can't connect to the Internet via router

Well, this is a very generalized problem that others have, so i'll give you some starting tips. If you can connect when you plug your computer directly into the modem, then it sounds like your modem is bonding to your computer. There are a couple ways to fix this. The easiest is to ask your router to clone your MAC addess (not to be confused with a mac computer, a MAC address is a 10 digit code that uniquely identifies your computer on a network). See the attached image to find where it should be. c26d492.jpg
Once you set it to clone your machines mac address, unplug the computer from the modem, and plug in the router. If this doesn't fix it, please comment back and we'll try some other things. If it does, then give a good rating :-)

Belkin N1 Router connection drops when phone rings

You may have a phone line connected from the modem to a wall outlet. Count the number of cables coming out of your modem - you should have only three: the power cable (connects to the wall), Cat 5 (also connects to the wall), and ethernet (running from the modem to the router).
