Vtech kidizoom camera does cannot find SD card

Hi, thanks for your help up front. My daughter has a vtech kidizoom camera. She has taken about 200 pics and 8 videos but when I connect it to the PC, nothing comes up. I then reinsert the SD card into the camera and it cannot find it and automatically defaults to the internal memory. Can you help? Thanks so much.

I had similar problem. In windows i formatted the SD card as 'FAT' rather then 'FAT32' (right click on card and select format) and that made the camera recognise it!

What type of memory card can i use for my vtech camera

The Kidizoom camera uses SD cards, which max out at 2GB in size. The Kidizoom Plus will take SD cards up to 2GB and SDHC cards up to 16GB. The brand won't make any significant difference. Neither will speed, so don't bother paying more for faster cards.

I have the older version (about 18 months old) version of the Kidizoom camera. I have just bought an SD card which is an SDHC. The camera wont recognise it or let me change the default memory store. Help!...

SD and SDHC are different types of memory card. A camera designed to soley use the older SD type cards will not be able to operate with SDHC. Newer cameras can use both SD and SDHC cards but the chances are the Kidizoom will only work with SD cards.

Hope this helps

Will not format a 4GB SD card

The Kidizoom camera works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card (the HC stands for High Capacity). While SDHC cards will fit into an SD device, they will not work in them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

What type of sd card do i need for the kidizoom camera?

The only thing you really need to bother with is that you need to make sure you get SD cards, 2GB and smaller. Anything larger is actually an SDHC card and won't work in the Kidizoom. Any of the major brands will work fine, and there's no point in paying extra for higher speed.

When i insert an sd card the vtech kidizoom camera wont turn on at all.

I am not a tech wiz but have just managed to put the card in my daughters camera! Normal SD card tight fit,it looks like it needs to go all the way in but doesnt. Either you have it in wrong or wrong card? Metal bits down! When I turned it on you then have to go to the tools sign to switch to memory card .Hope this helps.

Can't download photos to computer

I figured it out and boy do I feel dumb. If you have an SD card installed in the camera, there are actually two drives when you open "My Computer" - one is "VTech773", which is the internal memory and the other is "Removable Disk", which is the SD card. If your camera has an SD card and it is set up as the default storage option, then the pictures and videos are located in the "Removable Disk" drive. Here's the text from the owner's manual...

You can connect Kidizoom Camera™ to a PC using the included USB cable. Once connected, you can upload and download files to Kidizoom Camera™ by accessing your camera as a removable storage device. When Kidizoom Camera™ is connected to the PC, a new drive called “VTech 773” will appear on the PC. If there is also an SD memory card (not included) inserted into the camera when it is connected, two new drives will appear. One will be the “VTech 773” drive and the other will be a removable disk drive for the SD memory card.
