If your Chevy is equipped like most vehicles, the speed control is accomplished by a stepped or tapped resistor that has now failed. This may be located on the fire wall under the hood or near the blower assembly under the dash. When these resistors go 'open' inside, it will only affect the lower speeds since the fastest speed bypasses the resistor completely. Can't say how hard yours is to access but the part is pretty itself is cheap, guess that's why they fail so often.

My 2005 avalanche heater fan with auto climate control stopped working. The fuses are all good, and the fan blower tests good by hooking it direct to battery.

There is a resistor in the fan circuit to give you different speeds and it burns out. It's down by the fan on most cars.

My heater fan only works on high

You need to replace fan speed sensor ,located beside the fan under right side of dash

Heater fan not working

There is a resister in the air duct that controls the speeds...it is where I would look first.

Heater blower stopped working?

Hello,
You may want to try your fan on all speeds. If it will work on high, you have a bad resistor for the fan motor. ( high speed doesn't go through the resistor ).
If it doesn't work on any speed, I would check the following;
1. Make sure the fuse isn't blown for the fan blower motor.
2. Check, or have checked the wires between the fan control switch and the fan blower motor.
3. Have the fan control switch checked.
4. Have the fan blower motor checked.

I hope this helps you.

My 2002 Avalanche's air conditioning quits blowing cold air when in stop and go or stopped traffic. The air still blows out, but it is very hot air. Sometimes if I turn it off and then turn it on once my...

You may want to have your fan clutch checked. If the fan on your water pump does not spin very hard when the vehicle is idleing than it doesn't draw air through the condenser and that air keeps the condenser cooler plus it keeps the pressure down on the high side of the ac system. leave comment.

2005 Chevy Avalanche - my heater contol turns the fan off when I put it on #5......works fine on 1, 2, 3, and 4, but as soon as I turn it to 5 ....it stops.....

Motor switch has gone out, most likely due to high load on level 5. Replace switch and I suggest lubricating blower motor bearing to help take the strain on the system.
