You have a shorted blue CRT (picture tube)
The problem is that these TVs are known to have defective CRTs but Sony can no longer supply them. There is a company in Texas that rebuilds them, but its an expensive repair.
Its a shame that Sony has not been forced to take care of their customers. I've replaced hundreds of these CRTs and seen hundreds more after the supply ran out.
Sony knew about this issue way back in 2002 but only resolved complaints for a limited time and did nothing to notify owners whom they could easily indentify by serial number.
Let's hope we don't give up our auto industry or we'll soon see the same behavior there.

- As I indicated, the CRTs are no longer available. The only way to service these TVs is to remove the old CRTs and send them to Texas to be rebuilt. The company is called Video Display Co.
