Hi Chris,

This is usually an issue that is solved by placing the handset of the charging base. That way, it is "registered" with that base. This helps prevent someone with the same phone from accessing your telephone line to make calls, etc. The thinking is that if the phone can contact the base, it must be "ok" to use. Try placing the handset in the main base - those remote bases - that provide "charging only" may fail to register the handset.

If you still have problems - please provide the manufacturer's name and model for the base and the handset(s).

Good luck!

My V-TECH CS6229-3 phone base does not register the base phone but i can change another phone on this three phone set and it is registered and the phone

Is the handset you are trying to register de-registered? if not it will not register to another base until it is.first de-registered.
To de-register the handset do the following-
With a charged battery in the handset Enter *331734# then without pause Press and Release the Menu Select Button. You will hear a Beep. Handset would then be De-registered..
Then place the handset on the Main Base cradle and follow the instruction that come up on the handset display.if the handset still does not register then most likely the base memory is full and will have to be re-set .
To re-reset the Base:- Remove any handset from the main base cradle. Then Press and Hold the Locator or find HS or handset Locator button until the IN USE light comes on and begin to flash then release it and immediately with out pause press and release it again. That will re-set the base memory. All your handset will then be de-registered and will to be re-registered. Place each handset to be re-registered on the Main Base cradle and follow the instructions on the the handset display and they will register.

Problems with registering

IF your phones have the option to recognize caller ID and disable the ring for those not registered, this MIGHT be the problem.

If this is the case, turn off the caller ID blocker as you have not registered anyone to let the calls through.

My cordless phone says "to register see owners manual for help" How do I get the phone working, it is a uniden DECT 6.0 Model DECT 1588-2

With the phone in standby, press MENU/SELECT on the base.
Move the cursor to select the Register Handset menu, and then press MENU/SELECT. Handset Registering will appear.
On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration Complete then show the handset ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.
Note: If a handset has ever been registered to a base, reset the handset before you register it to a new base

Phone won't register

Try this,

remove the battery from each of the handsets that will not register for about 30 seconds. Reinstall, and try to register the handsets.

I had the same problem, and this is how I got it to register.

Reply back if this worked.

Registering a new phone

With a little searching I was not able to confirm this phone could handle more than one cordless handset. Are you replacing a defective handset or trying to add a second. If adding, do you know if it can handle the second unit (is it advertised on the box, in the user guide, etc?) If replacing, you most likely have to de-register the old handset on the base unit before you can register a new one. If you are adding, try de-registering the working handset anyway and registering the new one. If the new one registers and you cannot re-register the once working phone you will know either the system cannot handle two phones or (if the new one will not register but you can again re-register the original) that the new handset has a problem and should be returned.
