I can not play my Honda CRV 2004 stereo system. Errors come up
Folks, I bought a salvage Honda CRV 2004 and had it fixed nicely but I can not play the radio, the CD or the tape deck. The cassett will not stay in when I push it in. The CD goes in but will not play, The radio will not play. I get all kinds of errors.
I do not have an owner's manual. I have to order one. Is there a code that I need to know to fix the problem?
Re: I can not play my Honda CRV 2004 stereo system....
The procedure for mostly all Honda CRVs are the same as follows: 1) Turn off your radio with the ignition switch turned on. 2) Press #1 and #6 on your radio simultaneously. While holding these numbers pressed in, turn on the radio and watch the console on the radio. It will display two sets of numbers which will switch back and forth like U251 1 and L362 2. Take these numbers down and call any Honda dealer with them. With these numbers, any Honda dealer will be able to get you the code. If you are lucky they may not charge you but it will be worth a small fee.
The dealer will give you a number like 42351 or so. Turn your ignition off and enter these numbers - then turn your ignition back on and your radio should come on. Keep fiddling with this procedure until you hit it right.

yes that is because the stereo has to be calibrated to work in your car. the use of a "tech II" is the only thing that will do it. dealer wil charge up to hour to calibrate or sometimes they will do it for free. depends on the dealer, just have to call and ask.
My car (2005 Honda CRV) was shipped overseas and the radio asked for a code. After several tries, I searched the internet for a solution. Apparently Honda now allows you to obtain the code through their provided website. You will need the VIN #, the phone number and zip code that is on file when you purchased the car. Our car was purchased used and did not come with a manual. When I went to enter the code in I had already entered too many tries, now it reads ERROR E.
However, even before having the code (as well as now that it reads ERROR E) I can get the radio working. Push in preset buttons 1 and 6 and push in the power button simultaneously. A long number appears - at that point I pushed preset button 2 and the radio operated normally. Unfortunately, I do need to do this each time I turn the radio on.
It explains where to find the code on your vehicle. It is on a white sticker "somewhere" in or on your vehicle. This could be as simple as the glovebox door, to the engine compartment to the inside of the center console.
It might be the lasers wattage has decreased due to the aging of components. did you use a lens cleaner? if not try that then assume that the lens power has decreased. If this is the case take the unit to a shop and have it repaired.
