The power cords on CRT's are not like the power cords on computers. They are different and have a distinct style. The 7550's is different from other makes.

If you were to take the cord off the back of the CRT's you would see they are not the same as a computer power plug. Three prong is also the power cord for printers and electric wheel chairs or MODERN LCD Screens. Although the cord is the same, it's the end of the cord that is positioned inside the CRT which is different. Meaning not a three prong and not sold at a "Radio Shack".

You are simply "wonderful", THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I believe most CRT cords to be common to one other.  If that is true in your case, Any computer parts outlet.

I really don't understand why someone would post the comment that the monitor doesn't use the same kind of power cord as the computer. The detachable three-prong AC cord is an industry standard, and the are all alike at the connection end. The only trouble you might have with monitors is on LCD's, which on some brands and models use an AC to DC adapter instead of plugging directly into an AC outlet. You can pick up a replacement power cord anywhere. If you go to a neighborhood thrift store (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) you can usually find them for a buck or less. Buy a new one at an office place or Radio Shack and you'll pay $5 or more. But you don't have to knock yourself out looking online for something special.

Radio shack would be my starting point. if there are any computer solutions or stores in your area go in and ask em if they have a used power cord should be the same as the power cord for the tower itself.

please take a moment to rate this.

My speakers on my compaq 7550 have no power. when you turn on the sound, the green light is not lit up, so they are not getting power.

Have you checked the Power supply adaptor and the power cord plugs? If all are okay, then the power supply adaptor is the problem. Change the power supply and it should work.

What is causing my FS7550 Compaq monitor to blink on and off?

check if it's correctly pluged in to power jack. also check if the cable who connects monitor and comuter is loose. if it is, then unplug it then plug it again. do that for the power jack. if the monitor does that when your computer is off, or hibernating, don't worry it is completly normal. rate and comment, and thanks for using fixya

Power button on monitor

Looks like a loose contact in the button assembly. You will just need to get the button assembly replaced. Can be done at any computer service shop.

Power supply cord

Yes it is possible to get the product from HP(as now compaq is owned by HP). The part number of the product is 259055-001. You can ask for this product from HP by calling them at 1-800-227-8164. They may also give you a better alternative part number for the power cord. But according to me this particular part would be best for you monitor(259055-001). You can also buy this product online from hp.com. Yes in fact you can use sony pc tower to display on this monitor.

Nothing on the screen after power on

Turn on the computer and complete the following steps: Step 1: Check cable connections (If you can see the initial HP or Compaq logo screen but later lose the picture, you can skip to Step 2.) check the video cable connection on the back of the computer and on the monitor. Make sure that it is connected properly and the connecting screws are tight. Turn the monitor off and then back on again (while the computer is on) to see if an image appears. Some Flat Panel monitors have two similar power input connections placed side-by-side on the back of the monitor, which sometimes allows them to get confused for one another. One connector is used to supply power to the speakers with a separate power cord, while the other connector is used for the monitor's power adapter. Ensure that you have the monitor's power adapter cord plugged into the power connector and not the speaker connector. After you have reconnected the power cord, turn on the monitor (while the computer is on) to see if an image appears. If there is still no image, continue to the next Step. Step 2: Resetting the monitor At first setup, or under certain signal conditions, the monitor may not be able to switch to a new display resolution. Do NOT shut down or restart the computer. Instead, perform the following steps: Turn off the monitor using the Power button on the front. If the Power button does not respond, unplug the power cord from the back of monitor and wait five seconds. Plug the power cord back in. You should see the image from the computer on the screen.
