Please mention after switching on the PSP power LED turns on or not? ================================================= Suppose without connecting the charger when you power on your PSP you will see green light and you will get sound clear with no display at all and after 1 min: PSP will turn off automatically. then 99% it means that your PSP is bricked.

Then your problem is with PSP onoff switch may be it is faulty or it is dry soldered from PCB this you can sort out by opening the PSP and just short the both upper end of onoff switch and if PSP works definetly onoff switch is faulty. and if PSP won't works it means fault is in your PSP motherboard.
NOTE: short means just touch the contacts and remove your hands.

My psp wont turn on. the amber chargeing light is on, even left for a few hours to charge still wont charge and replaced the battery.

Hi there!
When you charge your PSP with the charger (USB/wall) does the power light turn to amber? If it does not, It's possible that your charger (USB/wall) is already broken. You may need to purchase a new one.
If it does, you may have either a loose power switch (which happens on my PSP Go) or you may need to have your unit checked with a qualified technician.
Hope this helps!

My psp suddenly stopped working and will not charge wont turn on at all

Hi Rneal_99,
If your PSP suddenly stopped, check if the battery cover is fitted snugly because if it is loose even by just a bit, you will have charging issues and you will not be able to turn it on because the battery should be seated properly inside the battery slot. I had the same problem because my battery cover had a small crack which made it a bit loose. I was supposed to get a new battery cover but I was able to resolve the issue by using a piece of paper as a padding for the battery just to get a snug fit. It worked for me, I hope it works for you too.
Other things to check :
1. Is the battery dead (does not have charging capabilities anymore)? You can isolate this problem by using a different battery module. You can ask your friends to lend you their PSP2000 battery just for testing purposes. Inversely, ask them to use your battery with their PSP2000. See if they will have the same problem.
2. Is the Charging Adapter broken ? Same trick here as with the battery, use your friends Charging adapter and vice-versa. Checking on these three things should isolate the cause of the problem.

If the battery is busted and does not have any charging capabilities anymore, you need to replace it. If the Charging Adapter is the culprit, you should go to a professional to have it fixed. But, if both your battery and your Charger are working properly, chances are the problem lies internally. Specifically the Power switch, the Power Socket Connection module and maybe even the PSP's power supply module. You should seek professional help in these cases because these problems are quite challenging to fix even with the proper tools and the proper skill set. However, if the unit is still under warranty, Sony should cover this. You can call them at 800-345-7669. I hope I was able to help. All the best to you.

Hi Ynnaalbasin,

PSP cannot turn on

keeping Lithium ion batteries(found in ur psp) idle for such a long time without charging may discharge them compleatly and even if you try to charge them they will not function. this seems to be a problem with your battries not ur PSP. try to get it replaced from the dealer you bought the PSP from. hope this solves your problem.. :D

PSP chager

Try a different outlet in the wall, it might be the outlet, if it isn't the outlet, maybe it's the power cord or the battery. If it's not that, then it's your PSP. You'll have to send it to sony for a new one if you want it replaced and if youve had it for over year you're going to have to pay $90. ------The fact that it turns off when the USB DC-in is connected and that it will not power up without the battery lead me to think that either the USB charging cable is just not supplying enough amps to run the psp standalone nor charge the battery very quickly, or something is odd in the PSP itself. I'm guessing when you plug something into the DC-in socket and it detects 5V then it switches to that as a source, if the USB cant supply the current it wants then it shuts down (just a guess).

When we switch the psp on the power goes straight off even with the adapter on

when the psp is plugged into the adaptor does it look like the unit is charging?

if not then the battery could be dead or there is more issues with the psu on the mainboard of the unit.

if it is charging then the chances are its the screen that needs to be replaced
