Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer
The machine will fill with water but then completely stops. Won't go throught the cycle, no draining or rinsing, no spinning. I've tested the outlet and it works fine so it's not the electric. What could possibly need to be repaired? Any ideas on the cost including labor?
Check the lid strike and lid switch . If the switch is not engaged with the lid closed, the machine thinks the lid is open and won't agitate or spin.
You can check by slowly lowering the lid and listening for a clicking sound from the switch. Alternatively, use a pen to press the lid switch down and see if the machine starts.
A new lid switch, if required, is not too expensive but including labor it might be over $100. I suggest replacing it yourself if you can.

Hey I'm fixing the same problem right now, it's probably the coupler between the motor and transmission in the bottom of the machine. It seems to be about a $13 part. go to fixitnow.com and search.
