Good luck

You will have to open the case and look on the motherboard. There is a small battery looks like a watch battery. Just take it out and buy one with the exact amount of voltage. Snap the new one back in and voila done..

Unit starts/stops-starts/stops after replacing 3v battery?

When you say starts/stops (etc) are you saying it just keeps trying to reboot? Or are you getting a message such as boot disk not found press any key to restart? Replacing the 3V battery will cause the CMOS to reset to factory defaults. You may need to go into the CMOS and make setting changes to point to the proper disk drive for booting. You may even have to change the type of disc drive since there is now the old MBR as well as the newer GPT format. Also, there is the possibility that if you are upgrading you may need to use the legacy CMOS instead of the UEFI that many newer mainboards come defaulted to. Any error in the CMOS settings can cause a boot failure.

You need to replace the small bios battery or CMOS battery if you changed it and it didn't work the battery was probably dead. Pull and test the battery. If the battery tests good yep you may have a board motherboard problem. Check the new battery first test any new battery it could be dead on the shelf always good to find out.

Bios update microcode

try clearing the cmos by replacing the cmos chip to the other two pins (which are present on the motherboard) and remove and refit the battery and then put cmos chip back to its original pins, that will clear the bios password and then reboot the windows and continue the bios update

ok you reset your bios by given process

Yet another way to clear the CMOS is to reseat the CMOS battery. By removing and then reinstalling the CMOS battery, you remove the source of power that saves your computer's BIOS settings.

Another way to clear the CMOS is to short the "CLEAR CMOS" jumper on your motherboard, assuming you have one (most motherboards do).

Usually when I see this problem it is because the cmos battery is bad. Replace the cmos battery and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, then you really do have a problem. :)

It is possible that your CMOS battery is low or dead.It retains the memory power to the CMOS when you turn off your computer. Change it and see if you problem goes away. It's a round silver disk. They are sometimes called coin batteries because they look like a coin. They come out easy and your local Radio Shack or Batteries Plus will have them.
