Missing Grip Part to My Rebel XTi

Where can I order a new grip to my Rebel XTi? It is the part that covers the sensor for the remote. It is infront of the camera. Where can I get another grip for this camera?

Rebel T2i won't power on

I had this problem and thank you to the gent that suggested there was a battery compartment closing detection mechanism. I have a battery grip and had removed that to register my t2i (needed the serial number on the bottom) and never checked operation after replacing. I toyed with the lever using a pen and noticed the red light flicker. I replaced the battery grip with batteries and all is well.
Sometimes we need a nudge to dig deeper... I had looked at the possibility of a door closed switch much the same as the the switch on the sd card door. I took a second look and found it. Thanks a million for jogging my analytical brain!

Shutter button won't work

I also had this problem with this same exact camera. i took it apart and cleaned everything with no luck. what i ended up doing was buying a vertical grip for it rather than throw away the camera. the vertical grip has a button on it that will work. i got mine from amazon it came with 2 canon OEM batteries and was only 100$ shipped. and the best part is after using the vertical grip all day i came home and was playing with it and noticed me cameras shutter button started working "i'm not saying this will also make your start working again" but it might and if it doesnt you can use the button on the grip.

My EOS 400D flash sometimes pops up in bright daylight in full auto mode. I sent it back to Cannon who returned it saying no fault found. I then began to think that the problem was the way I held the...

In full auto mode, the camera tries to use fill flash, when it detects a backlit scene (e.g. a person in front of a window). So this is not a bug, it's a feature!
If you don't want the flash to fire, you can push it down and still take the shot. If you want to take control yourself, use one of the creative modes (e.g. P or Av).

This has nothing to do with obstructing a sensor, as the camera meters through the lens (only). What you are referring to, most likely is the red eye reduction light / self timer indicator.

Turning on infared on my Canon EOS 400d DSLR

To the right of the LCD there are some small buttons. Right underneath the AV button, there's one. Press it, and you get three choices. The right most choice is self timer and wireless. Choose that option. The remote needs to be pointed towards the eye on the camera. It's on the front, on the "motor grip". And if you leave it on that setting too long, it "falls asleep", and you have to wake it up again before it'll fire remotely.

Help! Cracked LCD display on Canon Rebel xti

Had the same problem myself, I purchased a new lcd from ebay (user name: ProphotoSD). He has tons of factory LCD's, cost around 90$. Please note that if you cracked the clear cover above the lcd that is a separate piece however it wont effect the lcd working (this piece is also replaceable). Then I found a simple tutorial for disassembling the camera body on google. Took me like 25 min, very simple job, just need a very small phillips head screw driver. Hope this helps!

Grip is comming off, any glue suggestions.

Just take grip completely off and remove old tape, Go to Radio shack or Ace hardware, Pick up some double sided Tape that looks the same as what was on there to begin with, Put it all a round the edge of the grip, and it should work like new. If the grip is deformed then you have call Nikon Cailf, To order a new grip. TC

Try reformatting the card. I don't know if this camera allows you to do a low level format or not. If you can do that.

Missing Photos Canon Rebel XTi

You can actually still keep taking photos with your camera without loosing the images. The XTi will never delete the images off a card unless you press the trashcan key and tell it to "delete all".

It's always good practice in these situations to have a memory card reader handy. You can pick up a compact flash reader for your XTi for about $14 at BestBuy or many other retaillers.

But to answer your question: Use the ZoomBrowser EX software that came with the camera. If your Picasa is set to automatically connect and download every time the camera is connected - temporarily disable it. That way it wont inturrupt Canon's software (which I prefer).

Canon 400D won't power up...

hi
a number of new generation devices suffer from DOA (or early death)
often stuff happens on the first day or shortly after
thats where warranty comes in handy

return to vendor and replacement usually is offered without question

otherwise run a multimeter over the batteries and see if they have discharged themselves or failed
