Not completely because I don't know things about your connection or your router which the router manufacturer can find out and help you with.

I recommend that you call NetGear technical support for assistance in setting up the router manually. They will guide you through how to access the router's control panel and how to get all the information necessary to setup and configure your router. Here are their International Telephone Numbers for technical support:

Let me know if I can help you further.

I realize that, however I don't have one and I'm certain no-one else here wants to send you one.

So in that case you would still have to call NetGear to have them send out a new installer disc. Might just be easier calling technical support and having them guide you through setting up the router manually.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (2005), recently replaced hard drive (newer, bigger, faster) and paid to have computer software re-installed by a competent/knowledgable person. Worked fine..then, I get blank...

The Diagnostic Utility was deleted either by the person who repaired your computer most likely. This partition is used for recovery purposes and is installed by the factory. If you have the proper recovery disc that came from the factory you will need to do a complete re-install to factory default. If you do not have the original disc you will need to get one from Dell to bring your machine back to factory load. This disc has everything that was installed including the partition as well as the drivers and other software that came with your computer when you purchased it.

Now assuming that the technician had restored the computer back to factory specs you should not be missing the Diagnostic Partition you may want to return this to the person you paid to this fix and get them to restore it back to factory specs. Now if you did not have the recovery CD at the time when he began the work he was forced to do a format on the drive and use a purchased disc from Microsoft which he had to also search and install drivers himself. This is a problem because it would then not be his fault. He did what he had to do bypassing the factory stuff when you purchased this laptop now it is at the hands of independent software and not the original with no other partitions others than C: Which in many cases especially laptops can cause issues with devices not being installed properly outside of the scope of the original recovery CD.

With all that said make sure that you are booting from the DVD or CD-ROM drive as the first boot. You will have to go to the BIOS to check this out. I advise you to use the original software that came with your computer. Insert disc into the drive and re-boot and follow the onscreen instructions that is all you can do, if this does not work you will have to bring your computer to a repair shop and go from there. Thanks for using FixYa! John

How do I reinstall a dlink 615 modem. mcafee syys a trojan has been identified each time I try the install disc. can I install without the disc and how?

I can help you with your DLink DIR-615 router problem.

You don't really need to run anything from the disc to install a router - there is no setup program on the dlink cd you are required to run. Routers operate independently of the computers they are plugged into.

The most useful thing on that disc is the user manual, which you can download direct from DLink here. Any other bits and pieces that are on the 'installation CD' are also available from their webpage.

I hope that helps.

Easy steps to set up the router

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.

Need to Download Belkin Setup Assistant

I would suggest the following:

in another computer attempt tocreate an image file of your driver cd as you mentioned you still haveit (I strongly suggest you don't lose it), then with a usb thumb drivemove that image into the computer where you want to run the wizard (the one that does not have the cd drive working). now for you to create an image iso file on the othercomputer (virtual image of your cd) you need nero or magiciso oranother program to create iso files from a cd, now to read that imageon your cd-trayless computer you can use a program called magic disc.

there are other programs you can use to make iso image files that are free

free alternatives to nero

magic disc
- this is free and it will create a virtual cd drive on your computerwithout cd drive, you just need to mount the iso file you created withthe other programs and it will work like a cd drive so you caninstallation cd without ever inserting the actual cd.

good luck!

I recently got a router and the laptop is connecting fine how do i get my pc to connect wher would i get the disc to load the settings for wireless internet

You can either use the Ethernet (LAN) to connect the PC or you can use the wireless network.

Disc is no required to load the wireless setting in the PC. However you may have to load the Wireless Driver and Software for wireless card installed in your PC.

NOTE: If the PC is able to detect the Wireless Network then just select the wireless network and click on Connect to connect to the wireless network.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
