Question about HP LaserJet 4200 Printer

HP 4200 printing very light, smudgy and blurry

I have an HP 4200 printer that is printing very light, smudgy in spots and blurry in spots. I have replaced the toner and it still is happening. Sometimes that print comes out clearer than other times.

Remove the rear door by pulling it down and squeezing the left tab to remove it.

Press the blue hooks and remove the fuser. Look for a worn coating on the gray roller.

Color mismatch and blurry/smudgy prints

Remove ink catridges and clean print head, shake inks and reinstall the inks, if problem persist, Uninstall the driver and reinstall. thats should help. Some time if the print head are dirty it prints multi color. You have to make sure the Head is Clean and install th inks properly.

It appears that the printer is having problems reading the e-label on the print cartridge. Remove and reinstall the print cartridge, then press the Select button. That should clear the problem.

Replaced toner is printing very light.

If the print quality is the same as the old one - light laser is dirty and/or transfer roller. Fuser would NEVER cause light copies -but rather, dark, smudgy copies

Repeating wide smudgy horizintal line across my printed pages

I had the same problem, replaced the PCR in the cartridge, the small black drum that pre charges the drum and erase the old image.
After that print was all back ok.

My HP LaserJet 4200 prints fine from tray 2, but will NOT print envelopes from tray 1. It WILL print on regular paper from tray 1, but will not print envelopes. What gives? I've already rebooted the

Are there settings on the control panel of your printer?
Is the tray 1 the MP tray? (The one that flips towards you)
If so, can you change the settings of the Tray 1 to Envelope on the control panel?

I hope this helps.

Smudgy Photo orints

Make sure you are printing on the correct side of the paper. Most photo paper is single-sided. If you print on the wrong side, the ink sits on the surface, pulls up into very small drops, and remains wet for quite a while. If you print on the correct side, the image should be dry to the touch within 15-30 seconds.
