Dewalt D55155 air compressor regulator installation

I have the above air compressor & it is missing the regulator assy. I bought a repair kit which has the complete unit but it is dissassembled. There are no drawings or instructions with it, on DeWalts website, in the manual & the place I bought it from doesn't know either. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the response. I thought of adapting another regulator I had but decided to go with the original since it was only $25. After taking apart another brand regulator to see how it works, I was able to install the DeWalt with no problem. It works fine & should last me a long time.

The d55155 unit suffers from regulator problems due to weakness in the design of the manifold. The manifold parts are very light duty metal and will break during installation if not carefull. If you can return the parts to dewalt it may be more efficient to to use a generic pressure regulator from www.grainger.com for about 20 bucks and mount using a couple of 1/4" tees directly off the pressure switch. Remove the hose from the pressure switch that feeds air to the manafold . Install parts so that the quick disconnects, guages and new regulator are accessable from the side. It will not be pretty but problem will be solved for long term. We repair other brands that come with control panels using the same method. Pressure regulators built into a manafold will fail. For demanding customers we have recreated the manafold using 1/4 pipe fittings and refit the gauges and grainger regulator into panel.(lots of work) But leave the safety unloader at the pressure switch. If all you need is a good functioning compressor same time and money and mount to side. Good Luck and email if you have questions or other issues with your dewalt.

I have a D55155 compressor. When completely empty of air the guages do not read zero, should they or does it take awhile for them to go down. Also where is the pressure switch on the D55155?

GUAGES: Guages read exactly what pressure is on them at the time, there is no bleed down time. If the reading is off at zero it will be off accross the dial. The case may have been hit to knock the guage out of allignment or the needle is bent but that's hard to do unless the plastic cover is broke off.
PRESSURE SWITCH: The pressure switch is the black box under the large pannel right behind the quick connects.
LEAKS: Leaks cause compressors to cycle on and off frequently. They are easily found with soapy water in a spray bottle. The guages and quick connects should be replaceable with off the shelf (Home Depot, Lowes, tool repair shops) similar parts.
REGULATOR: If adjusting the regulator does not affect the pressure at the quick connects, and on the guage, it may be stuck or broken. This could also be the place to look for a leak. Dewalt does make a regulator repair kit, part number 5130027-00.

It's on the bottom, right hand side of the tank if you are facing the tank side. You can download the owners manual from this link. It is at the upper right side of the page in the section marked downloads.

I have d55155 and cant get over 60 psi, it never shuts off. how do i tell where the leak, o ring, or teflon tape should go. should the release valve be in a certain position? it seems down all the way

Could be leak or faulty valve plate in head. Use soapy water and spray all fittings including drain valve and pressure regulator. Repair as needed. If no leak found suspect problem with compressor. Try simple test, with compressor running and has reached max pressure (60psi) remove air filter and feel intake for suction. Be carefull could be hot. The suction should fairly strong. If no suction or actually feels like air is blowing out of intake, suspect valve plate. Parts are available at dewalt service center or www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck

I have a dewalt air compressor model d55155 will not bulte up any presure changed the cold start valve and the reed valves but not the reed valve plates it seemes like like now i have air coming out the...

If you have oil coming out of the oil fill and dip stick you most likely installed the reed plate upside down. Usually it says this side up or there is an arrow pointing up on the reed plate.
This is a good sketch of compressor and reed valve assy.

Usually the reeds are on top of the plate facing downward. If you have just a reed disc.. then the disc will need to be inverted.

Thanks for Choosing FixYa.

Dewalt D55155-QS 220 volts can it convert to use 115 volts?

The short answer unfortunately is no. The internal motor that drives this compressor requires 220 and will not work properly with 110. Your only option would be to replace the motor with one compatible with 110. The cost of that would approximate a major portion of a replacement unit.

Sorry about the bad news.

Sounds like it isn't getting oil on the bearings. Take it apart yourself, after you get a diagram of it and find a parts source.
