I have a dell laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium ( I rue the day). I have tried to remove a piece of software, also to install a piece of software, and finally got Dells people to go on my computer and do it. Message is "another program is being installed. wait until it finishes and try again." NO other software is being installed! The guys managed to get the software installed, I don't know how, but now I am trying to download from the internet a program (no problem on my XP computer) and its happening again. Help!
Well I saw your problem yesterday and its been bugging me ever since because I knew there had to be a way to stop it. It just came to me a few minutes ago, as I was having the same problem with Windows Installer a while back. These instructions may differ a little because they are far XP but it all goes to the same place.
Click on start>control panel>Administrative tools>Computer Management>Services and Applications>Services. Sroll down under Services and Applications and you will see Windows Installer. Right click on it>properties then click disable. So now it'll only come up when you need it..Good luck, let me know how it goes.
