That means that the player is in protect mode.

When a device goes on protect mode that means that a faulty component had been detected.

The device must be taken apart and inspected by a technician to fix the problem.

The only reset you can do are the following:

1 Leaved the DVD unplugged a couple of hours.

2 Hold down the start menu for three seconds while you plug power back.

If that does not work, then the DVD is faulty, and must be repaired by a competent tech.

Hi,
If CD is stuck,then try with any small pin inserting by side but remember that it should be going in side after pressing eject button.
If the player is in warranty then tray stucking is solved and covered under warranty.
If neaither condition is working and applicable then it could be taken out by opening the case only and do it only when you are familiar with internal assembly otherwise contact any repair man.

    Press power, and quickly press the eject button of the
    player couple of time so that it ejects dvd stuck in .
    If you have tried this then unplug your unit from power chord . Manually remove the dvd by opening the panel of player and take your dvd out .
    You are facing this due to hardware failure which can be due to

    • dead laser diode

    • a defective controller ic

    • Faulty capacitor in the player .

    You need to take to service center to service your unit .
    Hope this helps .

I was exploring the setup menu and I found an election of Progressive Scan "on" and "off". When I tried "on" then the picture get out and no image was since then. I can't...

There are 2 ways you can reset the player to default factory settings, although I am not sure about progressive scan being reverted back to interlaced output.

1) Unplug the player (or switch off) at power point, as soon as you reconnect (switch on) power to unit, press and hold the [STANDBY-ON] button (on the front). As soon as you see 'IS TV ON?' on the front panel display, release the [STANDBY-ON] button. This should reset it.

- OR -

2) If you do not have the instruction manual, you can download a free pdf of it;

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Philips-DVDR615-DVD-Players-manual/id/280ag201/t/2/

I hope this helps a tiny bit.

Stuck on Standby

Do a hard reset. Unplug it from the socket, the DVD and leave disconnected for 4 hours. This may or may not help, but it is a necessary step to restore all internal software codes to their factory settings.

Hope this may help;

DVD stuck inside, player won't turn on, standby light does NOT flash

test the capacitor with a meter to make sure it has the value stated on it.
the work on this unit is quickly exceeding its present value, most likely.
consider upgrading to a higher resolution unit if the fix is more expensive in parts and time than a new unit costs.
good luck

DVD player stuck in standby mode

Bad caps in the power supply is causing this. C17 (10v,470uf), C17,c14 (10v,1000uf) and C18 (10v,470uf). Replace with same capacitance values but 25 volt rating 85 C. Just fixed mine half hour ago works great.

Philips dvd player not working

Im sorry to tell ya that you did all the things I would have suggested, so it sounds like a system control problem or a power supply problem, and if its a good machine then maybe its worth you having a service person look at it?? Most dvd units are not worth it these days, unless there combos or recorders.. Sorry couldnt be of more help.
