I HAVE A BOSE LIFESTYLE 20 SYSTEM CONNECTED TO SHARP AQUOUS 65" LCD 1080P TV AND CONNECTED TO BOSE VIA HDMI CABLE. MY SATELITE RECEIVER IS CONNECTED TO BOSE VIA A COMPONENT CABLE. I HAVE TURNED ON CC ON TV AS WELL AS ON SATELITE RECEIVER. BUT NO CLOSED CAPTION. BOSE TELLS ME THAT ALL HDMI DO NOT SUPPORT CC WHICH SEEMS TO BE DUMB. I RAN A COMPOSIT CABLE FROM BOSE TO TV AND SAT RECEIVER TO BOSE (TEMPORARILY) AND THE CC WORKS BUT THE PICTURE SUCKS.
ANY ONE KNOW WHAT BOSE IS TALKING ABOUT ? AND ANY WORK AROUND TO GET CC WITHOUT LOSING PICTURE QUALITY?
CC is a function of your cable box in this case. TV's have the feature as well, but Bose is right about not all HDMI devices supporting CC through HDMI, especially converting from component to HDMI before hitting your TV. The solution: call your cable provider for this. Start at the source. The cables you use or the TV won't 'take away' closed caption if it's already there.

Hooked up external Toshiba DVD player to Toshiba MW20FP1 TV/DVD/VCR combo. Red,yellow and white plugs into LINE 2 jacks on front of TV. Used remote to select input as LINE 2. (Have to be in TV/VCR mode to get the Select Input button to work). When I put movie disc in, I get as far as the Menu (play movie, scenes, etc) and no matter which button I push on my remote, it won't play. A green icon shaped like a video cassette appears in the lower right corner. Any helpful hints? Thank you!
