Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

Inspiron E1505 laptop won't let me get a wireless connection

I just installed a new hard drive into the computer and put back on all the software but the wireless won't show up. When I try to set up a wireless connection it doesn't even give me the option. I finally have got the signal icon to show up but when I click on it there is nothing in there and it says that there are no supported wireless adapters available in the system.

Check the control panel their should be a icon in there for wireless. Click on that and follow the steps. I had the same problem and for some reason it started working when I use that icon.

I hope this helps, please rate.

SOURCE: I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 laptop that just won't come on.

hi, your laptop led`s are also there for diagnostic purposes, if the caps lock and scroll lock (the one on right of caps) are flashing before going off, it means your system is not detecting the RAM so either your ram has failed or the motherboard is faulty

I replaced the hardrive on my dell inspiron e1505 when the original died but now it does not indicate a wireless connection area-do i need to replace a wireless card?

No. You need to install the driver for the wireless adapter. Go to the Dell website under support, enter your service tag number, go to driver downloads, download the driver for the adapter, and install in your computer.

I want to put in new hard drive e1505

i am assuming that your current hard drive is working, you just want to replace it with a bigger one.

you will need two things 1) a way to connect your new hd to your system (such as an external usb enclosure)
2) the software to properly clone the disk image and put it onto a new drive

go onto google and search "clone hard drive" you will find numerous free (or free for 14 days so you can do this before they expire) programs that can do this

here a few links with more details (plus links to the software)

Strange faint gray/blue screen

It sounds like there is a critical error in loading the operating system, most likely caused by a corrupted file or key in the registry. Your options are: A) Spend countless hours[days] troubleshooting and experimenting trying to repair, or B) back up your drive, wipe, and re-install. I would obviously go with option B, as it will save hours, if not days of your life. Here is the easiest route to solve. (Note: you sound like you know your way around computers, so I am assuming you've already tried booting into safe mode.)
Here are the steps to getting your files off and re-installing a fresh version of Windows 7 RC (it's free to test, remarkably stable, and will continue to work until June 2010)
1. Power off computer, unplug, remove battery. 2. Remove hard drive (here is a how-to: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/hddrive.htm#wp1128924) 3. On a separate computer (obviously) download and burn Windows 7 to a DVD (get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx ) 4. Hook the hard drive you took from the e1505 to your secondary computer. It should be a SATA connection, which most newer computers i've seen contain those connections. So you should be able to plug it directly into a desktop PC. If not, dig out an external hard drive, pop out the screws, and hook up your SATA e1505 hard drive to the SATA connection in the ext hard drive, power the ext hard drive and plug the USB into your secondary computer. Either way you connect it, the computer will recognize it as a storage drive and you can simply copy the whole thing to your computer for sorting out later. 4. Once backed up, and your Win7 DVD is burned, pop that harddrive back into your e1505. 5. Turn on the laptop and put in the Win7 disk and start the install process. 6. Enjoy your fresh OS (and yes, it is compatible with windows xp programs -- just check the box for Compatibility under the right click-->properties) 7. transfer your back-up files to your e1505 8. crack open a beer and laugh at the hypothetical you that would still be beating his head in trying to figure out wtf file is missplaced or corrupted.
cheers!

For wirless drivers

Go to the HP website, and go to their software/ drivers update page. There should be a search box on that page. Entr your computer information, such as your model...etc....All of the drivers for your specific comouter should come up, and from there you can download/ install any drives that you need and/or any that need to be updated. You can also try to take out your wireless card, if internal. Then wait about 20 seconds, and put it back in. Do this while your computer is shut down and turned off of course. After you have placed it back in and securely reconnected it, turn your computer back on. Your computer should automatically search and detect the drivers. Try this first, and if that doesn't work, Then go to yout computer manufacturer's website and sach, download, and install your needed wireless drivers. Hope this helps.
