Hi..

Make sure you have or buy a webcam.Make sure you have an open USB port on your PC.
Step2Now Connect USB via Webcam. Then via PC. Step3Now you will then have a setup popup so if you have a popup block un block it now and restart your computer. Step4When computer it restarted you will do the setup. If the setup doesn't come up then check the connection and restart computer Step5Then when setup is completed then make sure your web cam is up on your computer very stedy. Then do a test before you do a conversation. This is usually to see if you would need any extra lighting or not. Step6Now enjoy webcam.I would recommend to keep your web cam connected so you wouldn't have to go though this again but if you cant then just reconnect and usually you would be ok thanks, please don't forget to rate our answers.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Skype is very particular about webcams using the latest drivers. If you installed the software using a CD the chances are the software is out of date.

Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.

Skype shuts down when I enable the video on Skype. I tried using an older version of Skype but still encounter the same problem, any ideas out there

With updating SKYPE your firewall must be updated as well.
Exit/Close your current Skype by clicking in system try Skype icon (down near the right corner green spot)
and choosing “Quit” from there if needed.
Open firewall, in programs, deletes Skype.
Run Skype and allow connecting
This also affects SP2 users who should follow above procedure.
With SP2 firewall.
Disabling external firewall will enable XP firewall by default.
So if you disable any other firewall XP firewall will now block your connections.
So remove Skype from XP firewall program list as well
