Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my understanding, a LinkSys WUSB54GC does not have a native kext/dmg from the LinkSys site. Therefore an external source would be required. Further, the WUSB54GC device uses the same chipset as that of a Ralink RT2501U and thereby would work using the same kext/dmg. This has been verified by others to work. Pls reference the pages here, here, and/or here for download and instructions.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

At what stage are you at? Once the disk driver is installed and the USB Wireless Adapter is plugged in and working. Then go to Networking on the Imac and it should automatically show the wireless signal named aftet the SSID name you gave the router. Once connected you'll need to type in the WEP or WPA password and that's it....let me know if you have any questions.

1) Open up System Preferences, click on Network.
2) On the side-pane listing your network connections, click the "+" (plus sign) at the bottom. This opens the create new connection dialogue.
3) Under the "interface" drop-down, there will be 1 or 2 "ethernets" depending on your system. I have 2 because of the forcedeth drivers. In my case, the first "Ethernet" was the correct connection. Give it any name you like. Click "Create".
3a) The new connection should come up in the side-pane; if it says "No IP address", proceed to step 4. If it says "Not connected", proceed to step 3b.
3b) This was probably not the correct "Ethernet" interface. No matter; Simply delete what you just created, make a new one, and select the "Ethernet" you did NOT select the first time. Give it any name you like. Click "Create".
4) It says "No IP address"? GOOD! On the right side, use the "Configure" drop-down menu. Select "Using DHCP with manual address".
5) Type in an IP address that your computer would normally have (example, on my network, my computer is assigned the IP 192.168.0.101, so that's what I used).
6) Click "Apply".
7) It should automatically fill in Subnet Mask, Router, DNS Server, and Search Domains.

Hi there,

You need to pair it with your router.

You need your WEP code on the bottom of your routher and put this into the wireless network on your system.

Then press 1 on the routher to put it into pairing mode then press ok on the system

hope this helps

Just plug it in, the MAC should automatically recognize the device and install the software.

Yes there's a big chance that the wireless adapter is bad already since there's no light came up when you connected it to the USB port, try to connect it on a different USB port and if still no light on it the adapter is already bad.

Cannot aquire ip address from wireless router

Hi, If your newer usb wireless adaptor does not have the same settings as your router this is the problem you have. First make sure you have installed the cd software that came with the usb adaptor without it plugged in. After that is complete make sure the wireless adaptor is seen by the computer it is attached to. Then you need to open the settings of the usb adaptor and set it up same as your router's settings. This includes the WEP security password if you use it. Good Luck.

WUSB54GC model wireless adapter won't connect after months of use

Instead of using the passphrase use the wep key 1 that you created on the router page when you generate it using the passphrase.

Then when you try to connect using the linksys wireless monitor just leave the passphrase blank and type in the wep key1 box the key that I mentioned earlier.
