Question about RCA RT2300 System
My RCA receiver, model # RT2870, Has a grinding cooling fan. When I turn the unit on it makes this noise for about 20 mins then will slowly go away. It is very annoying so I'd appreciate if I could get some help mayb with how to fully clean or oil, or where I could buy a replacement fan. Thanks
I would remove top cover and see how easily accessible the fan is it shouldnt be too hard. Once removed check out the specifications on it as far as current and DC voltages and most likely you can find one at roadioshack website and order one for under 10 dollars. You cannot oil these. You spray oil on it then when fan turns on it will spray intire inside of you receiver with oil not a good idea. I hope this helps. Good luck

The cooling fan supplies cool air to the unit to prevent overheating.
Please observe the following cautions for your safety.
Make sure the unit is well-ventilated. If the unit has poor ventilation, the temperature inside the unit may rise
and may damage it.
Do not obstruct the cooling fan or ventilation holes. (If the cooling fan or ventilation holes are covered with a
newspaper or cloth, heat may build up inside the unit and fire may result.)
So look at the fan and make sure it's turning. Pick out the dust balls. Give the system room to breath (Page 13: 4" clearance from the fan)
