Don't remove the back cover!
Lift the console by removing the 2 screws which hold it down to the cabinet. Once the console is out of the way you will see 2 brass clips which hold everything together. Remove these by inserting a screwdriver from the top and pop them out. Unhook the wiring to the lid switch, open the lid. Tilt the whole cabinet forward and it should all come out as one piece. Trust me this is much easier then trying to figure out where all the screws go if you go from the back.
Now with the cabinet off, you can see and access whatever you need.

Remove the back lower left access panel. You will find the drain pump there. 95% of these problems that you have described is from the drain pump bearing going out. If possible, run the washer with this panel opened and listen to the pump. If the noise you hear is coming from there replace the pump with the new designed pump. Here is the pump to order. To replace the pump, tilt the washer back and remove the belt, then remove the two hoses from the pump and then the three screws that hold the pump on. If the pump is not the problem, post back to me.

need make & model # to correctly solve problem, it could be timer shorted or the drive motor has gone bad.

High pitched buzz/whine during wash cycle only, spin fine

1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.

Dishwasher was making whirliing noise during wash, now no wash, only fill and drain

there is a #10 torx screw holding that cover down.do not drill it out. after you take it off you can tell if the chopper is broken.be careful for broken glass.

Yes, bearing, most definitely. It is a cheap part but difficult to replace.

Noise

Eileen, If the screeching is only happening on the fill and not during agitation or spin, I think we are safe to rule out the belt, pulley and bearing. Remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer and check to see if you have sand or gunk caught in the screens of the valve itself. If they are clear sounds like the water passing through the valve is making the noise. Another thing to check is the water pressure in the house. It should be around 55 psi., 75 psi max. I have seen it as high as 120psi with a bad regulator. This will cause noise and all kinds of problems. The part number for the fill valve is 131389300, according to the model posted....Catriver...post back.
