Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Cannot delete unwanted files...

I had those unwanted files since 2007. Every time I try to delete those files, I receive the message, "Cannot delete file. Cannot read from the source of file or disk". I even tried to rename the file and I receive that "cannot rename file...". So I wrote to FixYa and they said that I should go to the Safe Mode, but nothing was solved. I even tried some "file-killer" software and they said that the unwanted files do not exist. I even tried to delete them using the Command Prompt, and it said that "Could Not Find C:whatever".

Any ideas of how to delete those files? I am really disappointed.

Thank you.

So why you didn't format your system?!!
Make a backup from your files and then format your system and make a new partion for it and then install your OS.
It could save you!

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I recently uninstalled unwanted programs from my laptop, an have tried to use skype which wont work as it cannot find a micraphone,

well i would say alone with the unwanted software and programs it probably deleted shared files also. files that various programs use no matter what they are. that is why if you ever see when your deleting files a screen asking do you want this shared file to be deleted. My suggestion is to remove skype fully using there uninstaller and then download a new one this way you have all the right files

Cant uninstall a program

It might be a problem that the install.log file has been deleted. When some programs uninstall it reads from this file to clear the installed components and the registry entries, if the uninstaller cannot get this file it cannot uninstall the program. Try deleting the folder of the program and then delete the unwanted registry entries by using the software CCleaner (freeware).

How do you delete unwanted videos and downloads

If you want to delete unwanted videos and download that cannot be deleted you can try to check the permission of certain files..Right click on the files or folder chhose properties, then security then add Everyone on the list of user to gain access or to have permissions to delete the files or folder..If this will not work or you don't have the security tab..You can use cacls command for xp or Icacls for vista and windows 7..If cacls and icacls is complicated for you..You can download icesword and have the files or videos force deleted..then reboot system..

I am receiving constant messages about my PC's virtual memory being low. How do I correct?

Try freeing up some hard drive space, delete unwanted programs and files.

Go to programs, system tools and run disc clean up.after that run disc defragment.Defrag may take awhile.

This will clean up your hard drive and put it back in order.
reboot pc when done.Should get some memory back.
