Question about Canon PIXMA MP510 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon MP510 recognised as disk drive by Windows Vista

Hi, I have a Canon MP510 which caused no problems in Windows XP. I have since bought a computer running on Windows Vista. Initially certain functions (ink levels etc.) were not available so I downloaded the appropriate drivers and solved this problem.

I still have 3 other problems.
1) If I switch the printer on before booting up the ASUS M2N-MX the computer will not boot up.
2) When I switch on the printer after booting up, Vista recognises it as an extra USB disk drive - which cause problems in certain other programmes.
3) I have several computers on a private network. If the printer is attached to an XP computer it is available to users. If it is attached to the Vista computer, other users get an error message.

Hi, I had problem using Imation 27390 apollo expert ux. The hardisk is in NTFS format, and work perfectly fine when i plug in computer with Windows Vista and 7. But it cannot be recognized by computer...

Windows XP has limitations on recognising too large NTFS disks. One of the solutions would be to format the entire disk as FAT32 or make a partition and format that as FAT32.

Reboot

To Reboot a computer is to turn it off, wait at least 20 seconds, then turn it back on.

A.If you're thinking of Reboot, as to reinstall the Operating System, you use a Restoration Disk, (sometimes listed as Recovery Disk), insert it in your CD/DVD drive, and restart your computer.
(Just press the CTRL, ALT and Delete keys AT THE SAME TIME.
Not shouting. Windows XP and Windows Vista are examples of an Operating System)

B.If you're trying to install an Operating System, from a CD disk that you bought, I suggest you go into BIOS Setup, and in Boot Order, change the first boot device to CDROM. Insert the CD disk in your CD/DVD drive, and restart the computer.

If you buy a Full Installation CD disk, as listed above, you have to change the Boot Order.
For example:
1.You have Windows XP on your computer now. It has problems, and doesn't work correctly. Instead of getting the Restoration Disk from your computer manufacturer, you decided to just buy a genuine copy of Windows XP, and install it. (This is a Full Installation Disk)

The Windows XP you have installed now, will not let the one you bought install over it, by just putting the disk in the drive. Change the first boot device, in Boot Order to CDROM, and it will. The Windows XP you have now, will 'see' the Windows XP you're trying to install, as just the same version. You have to install a better version of Windows, in order for it to write over what is installed.
Such as Windows Vista.

2.You have Windows Vista on your computer, and are not happy with it. You would like to put Windows XP on instead. Windows XP is considered a lesser version, and Vista won't let it write over it.
Go to BIOS Setup, change the first boot device in Boot Order, to CDROM, and it will.

Hard disk Recognition problem

U are actually facing the same problem as "jackwilkinso". As my previous post: Windows XP does not come out to support SATA hard drive, because inside do not inclued the SATA driver, that why u cannot see the harddisk during the setup. What u can do is try to install the SATA supported OS like Windows Vista or Windows 7, or maybe can "forcely" put in the SATA driver in ur Windows XP setup CD.

Syncing camera to computer

What operating-system are you running?

On Windows XP and earlier versions of windows, there should be an icon on your desktop called "My Computer." Click on it once you've attached the camera. You'll at least see "Local Disk (C:), DVD/CD-RW drive (D:), Shared Documents, My Documents", and such. If your computer sees this USB camera, it should list it here. You can click on the camera's icon to view all your pictures.

On Windows Vista, getting to "My Computer" is a little bit trickier. I forget exaclty how, but it's not just set on the desktop like all previous Windows platforms.

You don' t say what OS or even type of computer (PC, Mac, Windows XP, 98, vista etc) you are running, or whether the drive has been used before. If it's a new drive then it probably needs formatting, so you can allow the OS to do that. If it contains data that you need then DO NOT allow the OS to format it.

If you know it is formatted & contains data, then it sounds like the OS is not recognising the format. Windows 98 typically won't recognise NTFS disks formatted on Windows XP for example or Linux Ext3/4 format disks won't be recognised by Windows. In the latter case, you can download a free driver which will do that for you - google Ext 4 and Windows.

After down loading the .exe you might think about burning it to a CD for later but make sure it works first.

Canon MP510

Dear mamachubs, Firstly, make sure that you have the right printer driver for your operating system. Suppose, if your printer driver is for windows xp, then that driver might not be support by windows vista. Secondly, if your printer doesn't support plug and play, then please install it manually without connecting your printer. GGOD LUCK
