If you are installing the software from the Web, and if the program stops responding (hangs), the program may be unable to connect to a server to download files. You must be connected to Internet to install the software. Depending on your Internet connection, the setup may take 15-20 minutes to finish.

You may notice that the installation process seems to get stuck in a loop, and seems to reinstall some components. This is typical behavior. However, if the setup stops or seems to get stuck in a loop for more 30 minutes, the server may be down or may be experiencing other problems. In this case, you may have to restart the setup, try again later, or try again the next day.

If the same thing happens, you can try the following steps :
Set Microsoft Internet Explorer as the default browser
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution');
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click to select Make Default on the Programs tab, and then click OK.
  4. Restart Internet Explorer.
  5. Click Yes if you are prompted with the following message: Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?
  6. Exit Internet Explorer.

Note You must complete these steps to install the software. After the install is complete, you can switch back to a different default browser if you prefer.

My comp tells me there is an interanl failure :0x80040707, It will not download the cam Model No: IC 50 C. but will download Mr Presto, I would appreaciate any help

f you're getting this error message as part of an installation or upgrade routine, here's one of the easiest ways to circumvent the problem:
    1. Go to the directory that holds the file for launching the installation (for example, Setup.exe).
    2. Right-click on the installation file and select Run As.
    3. Uncheck the box that says Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity, and click OK.
Alternatively, if you're running this installation from a CD, you may need to simply clean the CD and try the installation again. Another possibility for resolving this error is to run Windows Update on the system before running the installation routine.

The install shield doesn't finish working

Try copying the files on the disc to a folder and run them from there. Open the folder you saved the files in then double click the setup.exe icon and see if it completes the installation. If that does not work then try downloading the files from the radio shack web site.

IM HAVING TROUBLE INSTALLING THE LIFECAM VX- 6000 SOFTWARE!!!

Hi,

I suggest that you uninstall the software of that cam first. Find it in the Remove/Install Programs then remove. Next go to Program Files and find the installation folder, delete it. Then download this program:

and install it

Problem installing lifecam 2.04

just had the same problem read in another forum that you have to uninstall the net framework 2.0. (see below) which I found to complicated ...I just plugged the camera in - and at least with Skype it works ....

I found this link helpful:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/en-us
Try and use method one to uninstall your .net framework software. Method one
did not work for me, I kept getting issues with removing both 2.0 and 3.0.
I then used method 2 which entails following another link and downloading a
.net framework cleanup tool. I ran the program to cleanup ALL .Net versions.
Then I went back to Microsoft Downloads and downloaded .net framework 1.1,
2.0 and 3.5 (not 3.0 - for some reason 3.0 would not download and created
issues).
Once these .Net Framework downloads were installed I downloaded and
installed LifeCam 2.04 software and my kid was up and running in 10 minutes.
It took me over a week to get this issue resolved.
One more thing, when you are downloading and installing your .net framework
files you need to make sure you download in the proper sequence. Also, for
some reason I encountered printer issues the first time through this. The
second time I just unplugged my printer untill all downloads were installed
and I did a computer restart and the printer issue went away.

I HAVE A IBM PC CAMERA AND NO SOFTWARE TO INSTALL ON MY COMPUTER WHERE WOULD I FIND WHAT I NEED TO DOWNLOAD

Try this:
http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/ibmv5000w2kxp.exe
  • The IBM 33L4889 PC Camera Windows 2000/XP Driver installation exe will show the following message: Thank you for downloading the IBM PC/Net Camera Software Driver for Windows 2000/XP. Make sure the IBM PC/Net Camera is unplugged from the computer before installing this software .
  • Click [YES] to continue, the exe will then extract setup files to c:\\setup folder.
  • Go to C:\\setup folder, you will find Setup.exe there, double-click to run it.
  • Follow on-screen instruction to finish the setup.
After installing the IBM 33L4489 PC camera driver, you will have two exe, namely IBM PC Camera.exe and Vidcap32.exe. You can use IBM PC Camera.exe to take snapshot, make V-Mail as well as capture images.

Or you can try here:

Don't forget to rate this a Fixya if it helps!

When I try to install the software, I get an error message. The installation just quits. trnsp.gif Answer An installation error is defined as any issue or error that prevents the Setup program from fully completing the task. Installation errors can manifest themselves in several different ways. One common installation problem is the Setup program is interrupted with a message indicating some type of problem. Another type of installation error is when the Setup program simply disappears or doesn't complete for any reason. When Setup is interrupted with an error
Many installation issues will be accompanied with an error code and then an error message that identifies the problem. Because the camera software uses the Windows Installer, the exact definition of the problem can be obtained by looking up the error code on Microsoft's website. Two common errors are Error 1904 and Error 2711.
When Setup simply disappears or doesn't complete
Note: When installing software, administrative rights are needed to install all the files for camera software. If you are logged in as another user without administrative rights, the software may not install/function correctly.
First try booting clean. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Me, or Windows 98, click here for instructions on booting clean. If you are using Windows 2000, click here for instructions on booting clean. Once you have booted clean, then try to install the camera software.
Since booting Windows clean may disable CD-ROM support, we recommend you download the latest camera software for your camera and use the download file to install after you have booted clean.
All other installation issues
If you are unable to find a solution to the installation issue given the above information, please try the following suggestions. After each suggestion, try running the installation program again.
  1. Reinstall the Windows Installer. This Windows Installer engine can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=17343
  2. Windows 2000 Only. Stop the Windows Installer service and reboot the machine. To do this:
    1. Right-click on My Computer
    2. Choose Manage
    3. Click on the plus (+) sign next to Services and Applications
    4. Click on Services
    5. On the right side on the pane, double-click on Window Installer
    6. Choose STOP
    7. Reboot the computer.
If the service was already stopped, try starting the service, then stopping the service and rebooting.
If following through on the specific instructions above do not resolve the issue, please try the following standard diagnostics:
  1. Try a different installation media. For example, if you are attempting to install the camera software via the CD, download and install the latest web release. If you are trying to install the web release, try the camera software CD. Please note, the latest software can be downloaded here.
  2. Run ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter. Both of these utilities can be found in the Accessories program group of the Windows Start Menu.
  3. Search for and delete all TMP or CHK files.
For Windows 98 and Windows Me Users:
    1. Click on "Start", "Find" and choose "Files or Folders".
    2. In the Named field, type *.TMP and click "Find Now"; delete all files found.
    3. Repeat this procedure with *.CHK.
    For Windows 2000 Users:
    1. Click "Start", "Search" and choose "For files or folders".
    2. In the Search field, type *.TMP and click "Search Now"; delete all files found.
    3. Repeat this procedure with *.CHK.
    For Windows XP Users:
    1. Click "Start", "Search".
    2. In the "All or part of the file name" field, type *.TMP and click "Search;" delete all files found.
    3. Repeat this procedure with *.CHK.
  4. Empty the TEMP directory; this folder may contain files that are interfering with the installation. To do this, use the following steps:
    1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Explore.
    2. Click on the plus (+) sign next to the C drive.
    3. Click on the plus (+) sign next to the Windows directory. (For Windows 2000, it is the WINNT directory.)
    4. Click on the plus (+) sign next to the Temp directory. The right side of Explorer will display the contents. Select all the files listed in the Temp folder and delete them.
  5. Reboot the system and try installing the software again.
