Hi,

As i understand your concern that you are trying to connect XBox 360 wirelessly. I want to tell you that in Xbox 360 there is an option to configure your wireless setting on the xbox 360 and once you tried connect wirelessly it will give you the option to connect and if it is connected successfully you should able to go online. But in any case if you are not connected it will give you that error message. To setup your xbox you required to know wireless setting for your router. Like Your network name and wireless security password is you have any. Once you tried to connect with your network and enter all the relevant information it should work without having any problem.

I believe that this will help you to resolve your concern.

You need to goto your router admin panel

Virgin media 192.168.0.100
Sky (Sagem) 192.168.0.1

Find the IP address section if you are connected you will see the IP address and MAC address of the the XBOX if this is the only client connected it should work,

Press the windows key + <R> then type ping 192.168.x.x

Replace the x with the numbers that you see on the connected client

Having trouble connecting Xbox live. Have wireless router and wireless Xbox 360 adapter. Figured out where adapter goes. Now I'm stuck.

Is the router already setup and working? Do you have anything else that successfully connects to it "wirelessly", like a laptop or desktop or smartphone? If the answer is yes, here's how to setup the 360 to connect to your router:

1. Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."
2. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.
3. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)
4. Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead.
5. Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option.
Tips: Even when your wireless connection between the Xbox and the router is working perfectly, you may still experience difficulty connecting to Xbox Live. These issues can be caused by the quality of your Internet connection or the firewall and Network Address Translation (NAT) settings of your wireless router. Additional troubleshooting may be required in these areas to achieve reliable Xbox Live connections.
What You Need: Active Xbox Live subscription (to access services)

In regards to your weak signal count how many walls are actually between the router and your XBOX because this can effect your signal strength. You may need to move the router into a more open area.

As for the network adapter running in G mode and not N mode if you have any G wireless devices connecting to the network this will bring the router down to G mode. So ether you will have to run a G mode or upgrade your other devices to an N network card. Another option would be to get another router or access point to set one closer to you XBOX to get a better signal.

In regard to accessing your video and music files on your computer you do not have to open a port your firewall but set the XBOX as approved device. If you go to this link it will help you get your system setup properly.

Hi,

XBOX 360 is alredy wifi enabled you dont have to plug a thing in to it, if you want to configure wireless

All you got to do is turn on your wireless router/access point and try to search for available network in Xbox 360 and upon selectin the network it would ask for wireless key (WEP key cab found on the back or bottom of router) punch in the key and bingo...its done
Your box is ready to be wirelessly connected to internet and play online

alternatively if you dont ahve a wirelss router or you are facing difficulty is seraching wireless router or finding the security key

Connect the router to modem > then connect the router and XBOX with an ethernet cable
It will work

Else you can also try connecting the modem and XBOX with an ethernet or USB cable

(However in all the aboove scenario, please ensure the modem is getting the internet link through the normal RJ11 or phone cable, please dont unplug that else though your XBOX would be connected to Modem or router but it wont get internet connection)

Having problems with connecting xbox 360 to this router. Had no problems with my PC connecting to internet using the quick setup method. But, xbox does not connect, it fails it's network test.

Are you trying to connect X-box to the network ?
I believe you know all the wireless settings of the router.
If not then check the wireless settings of the router. Make Sure that the wireless MAC filter is disabled. You may need to reduce the MTU on the router and open the ports on the router

How to connect to XboxLive via 1800HG 2WIRE+Linksys adaptor?

The easiest way to connect to Xbox Live without using your pc is to buy a
wireless network adapter for your Xbox.

You would then go into the system settings on the Xbox and configure the settings for your wireless network.

The NETGEAR CD is for the router only. If you are connecting the XBOX to the router, you must configure the router so that it can give a connection to your XBOX. Call NETGEAR for that. You can try this also http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com

Cannot connect xbox 360 to wireless router

If you use DSL I would also check to make sure you are not being port blocked by your ISP. Some will block you if you exceed bandwidth on a particular port rather than throttling you or shutting you down entirely.

you do have an account with an isp yeah? eg BT, Tiscali, Sky, etc etc having a wireless router does not in itself get you onto the net... if you have an isp already thats cool but is the router you have a broadband modem too? or does it need to connect to your existing modem? the reason I ask is DNS is dial up networking service and one of the reasons a DNS would not be found is if there simply was not one to be found

Att 2wire wireless and dlink

the only thing you need for connecting 360 to wireless is an Internet connection, an 802.11G wireless router, and a wifi adapter that connects to your 360. They have these at walmart or any gaming store. I suggest giving your 2-Wire back to ATT! NOT QUALITY. Especially for gaming.
I myself prefer my box to be hard wired as lag is far less. BUT..for wifi
Get a Linksys Router and XBox brand wifi adapter for 360. Also google xbox connect. Instead of paying for LIVE
