It's on the motherboard. You have to take the whole thing apart to get to it.

    NO. It will only clear the password from the bios. You can run without it but you will have to reset the clock every time you use it. This is important because some programs are time and date oriented. If the time & date are before the installation time & date, it will not load properly, if at all.

In case of your Toshiba laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

I think you can get to this from under the keyboard. This one I think is a 2 cell battery in a plastic wrap with a cable and plug that is about 3 inches long and plugs into the system board.

I can not enter the bios setup because it is password protected


There is a way to reset the bios and that is to remove the CMOS battery from the system, you might need to unscrew the bottom panel of the system to locate it. after your see the battery, remove it for at least 3 mins then plug it back in. you should be able to go to bios.
