THE ERROR 41 INDICATES AN INCORRECT VOLTAGE COMMING FROM THE PRINTHEAD, THE PRINTHEAD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE HEAD I.D. WILL NEED TO BE RESET, ALSO, BROTHER RECOMENDS THAT YOU CHANGE ALL OF THE INKS TO NEW INKS. THE RESETING OF THE HEAD I.D. CAN ONLY BE PREFORMED BY AN ATHORIZED BROTHER SERVICE CENTER. THIS REPAIR CAN NOT BE PREFORMED BY THE END USER. I HOPE THIS HELPS.
Hi there Error 41 means there is a major problem with the printhead, usually requires a print head replacement. My advice is to take it to a Brother service centre while if it is under warranty. If it's out of warranty they are usually a throw away job, the heads cost as much as the printer. Sorry I know what it feels like, just have a go and see what you can do, clean the heads and so on. All the Best and good luck: Pineworks
This error message is sometimes due to foreign material under the printhead path or underneath where the printhead stops or parks.
Unplug the unit. Open the cover. Use a flashlight if necessary and carefully inspect the area underneath the printhead path. If the printhead is stopped or parked, gently move it enough to look at the area underneath. Common items are little bits of paper, staples, paperclips, push pins etc. Remove any foreign material.
To start ensure that is not a software problem.
Go to Control Panel >> Installed Printers.
Remove the printer.
Install the printer again using the software disk or downloading the driver software from Brother website.
If that does not fix the problem, and the printer prints blank sheets, then it is usually a clogged printhead.
The printheads can be cleaned removing the ink carriage and soaking it in isopropyl alcohol overnight.
If that does not work, then the printhead must be replaced.
Error 41 refers to the printheads which is a common problem with Brother machines. The printheads will need to be replaced. On some machines, Brother has extended the warranty to cover printheads because of the excessive failure rate. Contact Brother to see if you qualify and they may send you new printheads along with easy instructions to replace them. Also please rate this solution with a fixya rating. Thanks!
