Re: my car cd player wont play can i fix this myself?
HI IF IT IS A FEW YEARS OLD ..THE LASER MAY NEED TO BE CLEANED.....YOU WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE WHOLE UNIT OUT OF THE CAR...TAKE IT A PART AND CLEAN THE LASER... IT IS A LITTLE BIT OF WORK..IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO CLEAN THE LASER ONCE YOU HAVE IT OUT IT WILL BE EASIER TO FIND A FRIEND OR A SHOP TO DO IT FOR YOU......IF YOU ARE AT THE POINT OF WANTING TO JUST GET ANOTHER PLAYER I WOULD SAY THIS WOULD BE A FIRST GOOD STEP AND A LOT LOT CHEAPER ..GOOD LUCK

the problem with these units are they will read untill ejected were as a dvd player will try to read then when it cant it will stop i think it would be dirty lazer and boy are thay hard to get to to profess clean put a disc cleaner through it 10 times and see what happens
Had the same problem!! Found the solution here under "Wont Play" question. Push that cd chngr magazine (holder) all the way into the unit and tap with a blunt object( Dont tap too hard,it's plastic!!) screw driver worked for me! Push the eject button and you'll hear the unit working! Pop it in and out and it seemed to unfreeze whatever was frozen!! It finally loaded a cd and started playing again. I checked all 6 and they were okay!!
