You need to boot it with the CD that came with the laptop from the 1st to the last (they are numbered) and you will be good.
Remember that you will lose all data  and programs that's on it.

Hi, i have a fujitsu lifebook n 6740 and it running very slow...i was wondering how i can restore it to the factory settings when i bought it

Back up all your stuff first! Then when you're ready, make sure System Restore is first disabled/turned off.
Then when you boot your computer, (before the logo shows on the screen)
Press and hold down Alt+ F11 at the same time, for about 7-8 seconds. This should give you access to factory resetting options.
Hope this works!

How do i reset to factory settings

You can reset the BIOS to factory defaults by going into setup when the computer is booting. I am not sure what button to press either F2 or F10. It should show you at the bottom of the screen when computer is booting.
