Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Cybershot DSC W-30 Camera.

I got this camera when it first came out and it's a great camera, but I didn't use it for awhile and now the lens goes in and out a few times then tells me to turn the power on and off. I always turn it on and off, but the problem never gets fixed. How do I reset my camera? I've tried taking the battery out. I've tried charging the battery to it's fullest. I've tried letting the battery die first then charging it. I've tried taking out the memory card and putting it back in. I've tried everything that I can think of! Please help me! - deanne.

Well actually my camera is a cybershot dsc-w100 and when i push the on button it says access but after that it goes to a mode where it says turn the power on and off again and i turn it off but still does...

Lens errors (access errors on Sony's) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P92

Take the battery out and hold the power button down for 30 seconds.  This will reset the camera.  Put the battery back in and see of camera works properly.  If not, it could be the CCD sensor and Sony may repair it for free.  Call Sony at 800-222-7669.  Might as well give it a shot...a cybershot.

My sony cybershot dsc-p200 lense is stuck.

Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 worked great then the lens stuck in the open position.
Read on this site some one suggested gently manipulating the lens and tapping it then turning it on. It worked!!
