When you say water supply--As in the valves from the house? If so, and you still have it filling, call a priest!
if you have the unit turned off and it fills by itself overnight or during the day when it is not on, you would need a inlet valve.
Good Luck!

Your machine does not suck water from the main tap. If the water supply is turned on, water is supplied under pressure to the fill valve which must open electrically to fill the machine. Your water supply may be turned off or the fill valve may be failing to operate

I want to keep the water in my Roper top load washer overnight so it will soak the load of whites I have started but the machine drains.

You should be able to select a soak cycle without having to turn off the water supply, but it may time out eventually and drain the tub. This p[events oversoaking the clothes

Kenmore Elite HE4T standing water

I also have standing water after a wash cycle, but not immediately after. Given the history of very expensive repairs to this Kenmore HE4T washing machine, I suggest you do what I do, if the machine is still cleaning the clothes. Whatever cycle you use, try to be around when the machine finishes, so that you can turn off the water supply and remove the damp clothes to the dryer or clothes line. Turn on the water supply only when you want to use the machine. This works for me because I don't do many loads per week and my laundry area is right next to my kitchen. If it was in my basement, I'd have replaced it already with a top loading machine with mechanical not electronic controls.

Does not fill with water? power is on , filters

Yes, it is normal. There is water in the machine. One of the big draws for this style machine is that they use much less water than top load machines. If you stopped the cycle and opened the door, dug down in the clothes, you would find water. The machine fills a small amount of water (below the level of the door) and tumbles. As the water is absorbed by the clothing, the water level drops, so the machine adds more to maintain the water level. This is basically how the washer figures out how big your clothes load is and how much water that load needs. (Of course most sales persons at the big box stores and Sears have no idea how this works)
If you'd like, try running a cycle with no clothes to see how much water is in the machine. (It's not a lot) Now remember this: Because there is so much less water use than a top load machine, you must cut way way way back on the amount of soap and fabric softener used. Use no more than one tablespoon of HE (High Efficiency) soap (even less if it is 2x or 3x concentrate) and one teaspoon of fabric softener per load

Which is better a top loader or front loader washing machine?

Front Loading Washing Machine: Fully automatic.
1. Better washing than toploading as technologically proofed.
2. No extra effort except putting cloths and detergent inside.
3. No need to observe in between while washing. Start and forgot. You can go market and come back.
4. No issue if electricity or water went out during washing.
4. Take more water compare to toploading semi-automatic.
5. You can not open it once it started.

Top Loading Washing Machine: Semi
1. Save water and detergent.
2. Need extra effort to put the cloth from one box to another.

The cold water will barely run out to fill the machine.

Pull the machine forward

Turn off the water supply

Turn on the machine as if you are doing a wash, if it is hot and cold fill turn on the hot wash so that the hot valve is used

Turn off the machine

Use a cloth to grip the plastic or metal wing nuts which secure the cold and hot pipes to the back of the machine

Loosen them off and remove them one at a time making sure that you do not lose any sealing washers

Remove the filters and clean them

Put the hoses back on and make sure they are tight

Turn the water back on and start a wash using both 40 and 90 degree programs as you did in the first place

If the water runs in as normal make sure that there are no leaks and put the machine back into position

Use the machine and at the end of the session check that the connectors are still tight

Dirt left in creases after washing clothes. Clothes never look clean

Too many clothes in the load , if it says 5lb then that is the maximum you should fill it with otherwise the clothes do not seperate as they are being agitated

Also

Not enough detergent (Try the old powder types)

Hard Water area (Use a small amount of Washing Soda)

Water level too low , use add water button if fitted

LG washer uses so little water, clothes aren't even damp and not clean

You will need to have a qualified LG technician come out and see what the problem is.  You may have a water level switch issue.
