Kitchen Aid Double Convection Oven blows circuit breaker

We have had this unit for three years.  It is the Kitchen Aid Pro Line series.  Works fine until we try to have both ovens at high temperatures, above 400 degrees.  Then it blows the circuit breaker.  I can turn the breaker back on and it works fine with one oven, but not with two. The unit paperwork calls for a 30 amp breaker.  It appears that we have this attached to two 40 amps circuits tied together.

Bottom oven of dacor double oven

I found the lower circuit breaker had been tripped. That didn't fix the problem but upon further inspection whoever had worked on the unit years ago had dropped a screwdriver that had lodged between the oven wall and the rear casing and shorted out the lower heating element. I removed the screwdriver and oven works fine now. I don't think that will solve the cmmclow problem but maybee the curcuit breaker is tripped.

Re:Electric Convection oven does not heat up. Convection fan works, light works.

It is probably and electrical service issue. If this is a North American unit, it uses two electrical circuits to provide power. You must find and reset the breakers and check that the wiring is operating as intended. Less likely: It could also be a manufacturing defect. DeLonghi uses screw compression connections on some products. Sometimes, they don't work well.

Kitchen Aid ovens - error codes

The F-3 error code typically means you have sensor problem. The sensor is usually mounted in the oven space up near the top of the unit. The first thing to do is turn off the circuit breaker to the oven. Do you have an ohm meter? I suggest if you don't to purchase one. They are relatively inexpensive. Maybe you can borrow one from a friend. Disconnect the sensor from the electronic control and measure the resistance. There should be a wiring diagram in the top of the unit that will help you to locate the sensor wires. Most sensors should read around 1100 ohms at room temperature. If sensor reads as an open circuit or has a very high resistance, it must be replaced. If instead it reads very low, then there is a short in the wiring. Some units have a fuse in series with the sensor. Check to see that the fuse has not blown.
