Optiarc DVD-RW AD 7560A - well recording CD-ROMs, but not DVDs

On my ACER Travelmate 7520G; OS is Vista Home Premium, I have a Sony Optiarc DVD-RW AD-7560A ATA device running.
After an automatically installed Vista-Update, this device doesn't recognice DVD's any more. CD-ROM's are well recorderd.

The device manager also recognices this device as a CD-ROM drive only. Clicking ''update driver automatically'' shows: ''The best driver for this device is already installed'' .

I also have uninstalled and reinstalled this device.
But I don't get a DVD-driver for it.

Can anyone give me a hint how to solve this problem? My Optiarc AD-7560A (Acer Aspire 7520, Vista home premium,1yr old) will no longer read/play disks of any kind. Device manager says drive up to date and device working correctly. Any ideas out there?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: my macbook pro does not recognice the built-in

I had this problem early last summer. I was told by an Apple representative that it is related to the NVIDIA graphics processor failing (it's a known manufacturing defect). If this is the case, the repair cost will be covered by Apple (even if your warranty has expired). If you take it to the Apple store, they will evaluate it for free and can determine if that is really the cause.

My optiarc dvd rw ad-7560A not reading dvds anymore. It only reads cds.

Try opening the dvd software prior to inserting the disk. Did you try a DVD that you see will work in another DVD player?
