Netgear WGT624 V3 Wireless Router Problems by BigG2 - January 16, 2007 1:17 AM PST

Hi Guys/Gals,

My wireless connection is not working and i cannot log on to it, I have connected a Netgear WGT624 V3 Wireless Router to my Motorola SurfBoard SB5101E Modem which is connected to Telewest Cable Broadband (internet works fine if i access directly through the modem), on the router the power light is lit and also the internet light flashes rapidly but the wireless light comes on for a couple of
seconds and then goes out - i think this is the problem? I have tried logging on to the router to check the wireless settings but cannot access it, i have also tried connecting directly via LAN but cannot get this to work either although i am not sure if i have connected it correctly?

Any ideas/comments/advice is very much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance,

The router find two wireless but it does not work

the router can not find wireless it is a transmit device only. I think what you mean to say is your laptop is finding 2 wireless signals? if so which one is named the one you named? if you have not named one and this is your router go to 192.168.1.1 and it will ask for a log in. you need to be plugged in and not wireless to do this. admin is the name and password is the password. go into settings and name YOUR router. get a password and or make one and remember it this will get you logged on. if it does not go to a internet browser and type in www.routerlogin.com
or http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2597
either will take you to the support page of the router for net gear. if you happen to know the version which is on a sticker on the bottom it will help.

Netgear wgt624 v3 problem, cannot go to any sites

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My wireless router netgear is not transmitting the internet signal what can i do to fix it. I have tried resetting the factory button on the back and securing the wires in their correct places.

there is a little hole on the back to reset the router you need a paper clip to push and hold that.
Hold it in for 5 to 10 seconds until the light go off then blink.
Also reset you isp modem as well by unplugging it from the ac outlet
allow you modem to come up then reset the router.
if it still does not work you might have a issue with the router but please do try these steps.
Thanks and please rate using the 4 thumbs above.

My son has a macbook pro and every time he opens his browser it knocks out the router, a netgear wgt624, and the signal is dropped

Wow, I've heard of Apple Mac's being evil before, but never heard of one knocking out a whole wireless router.

The technology used by Apple Mac and everybody else is really the same. I can't think of a reason for a macbook pro to cause a router to actually stop transmitting signal?

Try a different wireless router ... see if it zaps that one too. If so take the Apple back to the store or to your church for an exorcism.

Newer Apple Mac may have Airport Pro ... with 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency bands in it. It won't have such an amazing amount of power coming out of it that it can zap (like star wars) a wireless router.

By the way Airport Extreme is a very nice wireless router ... and it should play nice both with Apple Mac's and every other kind of computer. And you can link more than one of them wirelessly.

I cannot get my wireless router to transmit a signal?

Make sure it is turn on under the wireless tab on the router. If is try changing number, your and your neighbor can be sharing same channel number. That happen to me.

Netgear wireless router wgr614 not transmitting

Yes changing channel will make a diffeence most of the time for this kind of issue. The reason is there could be multiple routers or interference in that area locking to the same frequency.

Problem connecting wireless to a Netgear MR314

Login to router and change the wireless channel on which the router is transmitting wireles signals.

Pretty old router that you have. Ugrade your router and stay tension free with the newer routers as they work fine and have low downtime.
