Bought a replacement remote RCM 8080 for easy touch TV but it won't work

If the remote control you've bought is its original replacement [number]; it should work with the TV without any problem. If not; the infrared sensor inside the TV should be checked and replaced.
If it is a universal remote control; you have to set it up with its set-up code; said to your TV brand.
If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Phillips 42 inch #242254901817 will not respond at

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
You here reports that even the new remote too does nor responds. Which remote did you bought? An original one or a universal remote? If it is an original one, and even your set do not respond it, the infra-red sensor inside the TV is faulty. Replace it. Contact any service technician. If it is a universal remote control; you have to set it up with the set-up codes said to Philips brand TV [The setup code list will accompany with package of each universal remote control], to work with it.
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Can a tv lose the ability to read codes from a universal remote cause i tried three different un. remotes and my tv doesent react to them.. thnx

If the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, TV won't respond to any remote controls. You can make it sure by looking into TVs standby light. If standby light on TVs front panel blinks once, when you press a key in the remtote control, make sure that the sensor inside is working properly, and the code you are trying to enter is non once for your Brand TV, If there is no blinks as such stated above, make sure that the infrared sensor inside your TV is faulty. If you want more details about codes, setup proceedings, repairing a remote & checking it, just visit this site. Th site name is "Electro-help".. Just search for it by type in 'electronicshelponline' in your browsers' search page. It is a blogspot site, in English language.

Remote control issue

It would be best, to simply buy a new remote control. I own a One-for-All universal remote control (model URC-4220), and it works with all brands of TVs, including Insignia TVs. I bought it at Walmart, and it cost less than $10.
