How do I get my TV and remote working. My husband had a head injury and I think he has pressed a wrong button somehow. I bought a new remote but having same problem. Thanks

If the remote control you bought newly is its original type and number, there shouldn't be any problem at all. If so, the infra-red sensor [inside the TV] is faulty. It should be replaced. Contact any service technician.
If the remote control is a universal one [Univeral remote cotnrol; in short will say, URC]; you should synchronize it with your TV brand with set-up codes said for your TV. The code list [accompany with the remote control] will give you all details about how to set it up with your TV.
Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

I bought a Sylvania TV, model 6420FF at a second hand store with no remote. I bought a universal remote and it still won't recognize I have the xbox or Wii on. What to do?

Setup codes to check with Sylvania brand TVs are: 0062 0004 0009 0135 0189 0183 0227 0456 0008 0068 0075 0141 0161
For more codes to different other brands of remote controls, and setup proceedings, check this link.

Can a tv lose the ability to read codes from a universal remote cause i tried three different un. remotes and my tv doesent react to them.. thnx

If the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, TV won't respond to any remote controls. You can make it sure by looking into TVs standby light. If standby light on TVs front panel blinks once, when you press a key in the remtote control, make sure that the sensor inside is working properly, and the code you are trying to enter is non once for your Brand TV, If there is no blinks as such stated above, make sure that the infrared sensor inside your TV is faulty. If you want more details about codes, setup proceedings, repairing a remote & checking it, just visit this site. Th site name is "Electro-help".. Just search for it by type in 'electronicshelponline' in your browsers' search page. It is a blogspot site, in English language.

My remote stopped working. I replaced batteries, nothing, bought a universal remote, followed directions nothing. Can the TV be the problem? Is there a factory reset on the TV?

it could be sensor on tv

try holding remote in front of a video recorder and if you push button on remote and view through video recorder you should be able to see the light blinking coming out of remote - if you see the light coming out of remote and it is still not working then the tvs sensor went bad

besides trying to unplug tv for a few minutes there is no reset for this issue

Remote will no longer work

Your best bet is to buy a universal remote that would work with your model television or a replacement remote from your manufacturer.

This one is pretty cheap (and may be your exact remote?)

You could probably buy a universal remote cheaper at walmart or target, but the cost savings will cost you the time and hassle to program the remote (and if you buy a universal, you must make sure it works with emerson TVs).
