Kenmore 44102 Front Laod washing machine leaks only on the spin cycle... anyone else have this issue?

  • cam8897 May 19, 2009

I have leaking from around the very bottom bolt which holds the 2 tub halves together. Only while spinning, I can tell it's loose. Do those bolts simply thread into the drum material (hard plastic)? or is there a metal threaded insert which the bolt tightens into? It feels tight right now and I'm afraid to torque too much in case I end up with a handful of broken plastic in my hand!! Is it best to loosen first, then tighten? There's a bit of corrosion on the bolt head. thanks

There is a coin trap built into the drain boot but it will not leak if there is something in it.

There are several places the water could be leaking from, the first thing is to try and locate the source by removing the front kickplate panel and visually inspecting.
Here are some places to check...

-Inspect the door seal (bellows) for holes/tears
-Inspect the drain boot (rubber boot connecting drum to drain pump) for a loose clamp or holes/tears
-Inspect the tub bolts which hold the 2 tub halves together. Remove the top of the cabinet and look for a gap between the 2 drum halves. Feel your way around where the tub halves join. If you feel water or see soap residue tighten ALL the bolts.
-Inspect the drain hose (inside and out) for any holes

There are a few others but those are the most common.
Let me know if that helps. Good luck!

My kenmore 400 washer is leaking from the bottom, What could it be how can i fix it?

When you don't look yourself, or invite someone to look, you never will know what is wrong. Can be everything from a bursted rubber hose, a loose hose or even a needle piercing through a hose. I have seen so many different causes for leaking, it could be none of the ones I mentioned here is the cause in your machine.
Sorry, but I can't make more from this.

Rubber door seal has hole in it

Mine too. I know that's not very helpful but after looking into what it would take to replace even if DIY, I decided to give the seal a real good cleaning, always wipe it down after each use, and place a small plastic container on the floor to catch the leaks which weren't quite as bad after keeping the seal more clean.

Small **** in the rubber molding inside the door; leaking.

You may need to replace the door seal. But first take some 100% pure silicone and push some in the hole and around the hole. Let this dry for 24 hours before using this should seal it up. If this does not work replace the door seal. Here is a link that should help

Outstanding diagnosis. You are correct to assume a water inlet problem and, "yes", this can be a common problem. If you live in area that has hard water, or if you use well water, sediment, rust and calcified deposits can clog the small diaphragms inside the valve causing them not to close properly and leak by. You can attempt to clean the valve by removing it and submerging it in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and hot water for about 30 minutes, Sometimes this can dissolve any clogs and restore the valve to full operate. However, if this does not work, you will need to replace the valve.

The following link explains the steps required to replace the valve if you need directions:

I have included web resources to search for replacement parts.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore 70 series Washer- Water overflows

The most likely cause is a split or cracked hose to the water level knob on the front panel. To get to it, take a putty knife and slide it into the front corners between the lid and the front panel to pop open the spring clips. Flip the top back and follow the little rubber hose from the control panel down to the bottom of the tub. Loosen the spring hose clips and pull the hose off. Check carefully for cracks or splits and replace if needed, which it most likely does. If you found this helpful please don't forget to rate it. If it doesn't help, forget we ever had this discussion (just kidding).

Kenmore - 43142 front load - leaking

Which hose are we talking about? If you're talking about the small rubber hose at the top center of the door seal, HOW is it leaking? Is there a hole in the hose? Is the door seal itself damaged? Let me know a little more so I can give you the proper advice.
