Perform a full reset of the router. With the power plugged in, press the reset button for 30 seconds; keep the reset button pressed and pull the power plug out for 30 seconds; keep the reset button pressed and plug the power back in. The unit will reset to the factory settings.

User the software and instructions that came with your router, or download them from the Linksys website, and log onto the router and use the setup program to finish the setup.

Reset modem to default

modems don't have any settings unless you are referring to a modem/router combo. Routers or modem/router combos, commercial/home grade routers can be reset by locating the reset button, or pin sided hole on the back of the router typically labeled "reset" press and hold for 10+ seconds and this will restore the device to factory settings including passwords.

No internet when using router

Your modem has already registered itself with the MAC address of your computer, so it doesn't recognize the MAC of your router. In cases like this you have two options:
  1. Configure your router to clone the MAC of your computer
  2. Connect the router to your modem and do a soft reset so the modem registers itself with the MAC of your router.
Clone MAC - Go to your routers Admin web interface and on the main page you should see the "Router MAC Address" section at the bottom. Select "Use Computer MAC Address" and click "Apply" and your router should reboot and you'll be back in business.

Soft Reset
- Plug the modem into the router via the ethernet cable then do a soft reset.

To do a soft reset, do the following:
  1. pull the power cord from the modem
  2. count to 5
  3. hold down the Reset EMR button on the modem
  4. plug back in the power
  5. count to 30 while holding the Reset EMR button (the modem should be blinking a lot)
  6. release the Reset EMR button and see what happens.
