Hotpoint wma40 door seal

I have a hotpoint wma40 washing machine. The door seal has black grime on the edge and inside the seal. I have tried wiping it with bleach on a cloth but it will not shift. Do I need a replacement door seal?

You may also have a black well. If you are not using city water wells often have to be bleached out. Have your water tested.

The black grime is mold. Once it is set into the rubber it is nearly impossible to remove. Bleach would have been my suggestion but since you've already tried that, replacing the bellows (door seal) is your next option. In the future, when the machine is not in use try keeping the door slightly open for any standing moisture to evaporate.

It's a push fit seal. Carefully remove the old one and for help, smear the new seal where it fits the machine and just push it into place securely.

Blocked filter

This is for the WD420, but could be useful for you.

The filter is inside the machine. If you machine is still under guarantee I would try and get it done that way. Otherwise turn off the power and pull out the machine to get a the back.
Remove the panel at the bottom where the discharge hose comes out. You should see a black concertina type tube coming from the drum attached by a jubillee clip. The filter is inside. Losen the clip and pull away the tube take out the filter and clean it. When you replace it don't forget to put the ball float back in and check its well fixed by running a spin cycle before sealing up.

Door interlock flashing

Same issue with loose solder joint on the relays inside CCU (computer control unit)
the same bad CCU is used by several manufactures.
you have to open the CCU and re-solder the the relays to the board. they have microcracks around the legs.
you will get the door lock issue randomly.
to prove the issue open the top access panel .and pull up on the center black plastic connector and the issue will go away.
