Hi,
Might be that @ key is swaped with the : and vice versa.
This happens because of the language settings so go in control pannel and go to the language and regional settings and select the laguage as English US inplace of UK.
If then also the issue is not resolved then u will have to format the machine and while formatting select the English US then only the issue will get resolved.

What's your problem?a way to turn the SATA ports to ON in the BIOS

You can go into the bios and on those drives that are not found you can turn them OFF or N/A. They are probably set to AUTO or ON.

If that does not work I would say remove the power cord, remove the cover, then remove the main power to the motherboard then plug the main power to the motherboard back it. The main power will run from the power supply and the end of it will be about a 2 inch strip that plugs into the board. Press and hold the little catch on it then pull it out of the socket on the board. Put it back in firmly. Reboot and see what happens.

Dell optiplex desktop freezes up at boot screen. Says drive 2 not found. Bios setup is correct and boot sequence has been setup correctly. Was working before but now freezes up.

Swap out the ram one stick at a time, bad ram has been known to cause this type of symptom, the other thing to check is the motherboard, check the led light on the board is green, if not and it is yellow or amber indicates motherboard issues.

Hello, I've a Dell with Optiplex 760 brand. I want to install Windows XP on the system but it fails to do so. Then I restarted my PC and by pressing the F2 key, I tried to change the SATA options from AHCI...

You need to not only set the sata option to ata but you need to use the F6 optioin and use the raid/sata driver provided by dell. it is a pain but this should fix your problem....after a successful install go into device manager and reinstall the driver using the ahci driver and all should be good. also try not to use a USB keyboard as the usb drivers are not that stable. Hope this helps.

Random freeze or lockup with turning off the only option. Often just after stuttering sound with FSX but locks up with other software, MS player Explorer Open Office DVDs Dell XPS 420 Nvidia GT 8800 3GB...

Whilst my Dell is a 720 the stuff you have is almost identicale to mine. :)

Have you had a look in Control Panel (or whatever it is in Vista), then 'Administritive Tools' followed by 'Event Viewer'? The event viewer is good as it logs errors especially for 'System' and 'Application' which is what you want to look at. Not everything is an error as it records basic startup and usage.

The other thing is to ensure your PC is free from any viruses. I always ensure I have a (free) copy of Malwarebytes that can scan the PC fully - always handy to have this. Initially after getting updates do a full scan - can take 2 hours depending on how much stuff you have. Then do weekly quick scans (under 30 mins normally).

Another quick way is to check the CPU usage. If there's a lot of use when idle that's a sure sign of something lurking in the background.

I cant boot up my computer(memory address line failure)

This is clearly a problem with the memory. You can try two things:

1) Remove and reseat the memory sticks (with the unit unplugged)
2) Swap the boards around. Windows is not very tolerant of errors in the lower portion of memory. Swapping around the boards will change the relationship of physical memory addresses to virtual addresses. At the very least, the memory swap may help to determine which memory stick is defective.

Please keep us posted.

I just bought a new motherboard and managed to swap everything....except the power switch cable

whew..that's not as simple as it looks. You'll need a pin out configuration guide, if one exists, or you'll need to make one. The power interface from front panel, is usually unique to each Dell, so its' not likely to swap over.

got backup for that Dell?
