Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook

1 Answer

Keyboard problems i have an IBM T40 Notebook. and i have just rebooted the computer, and installed drivers. But now my keyboard acts weird. my `alternative keys` or what the are called (when you push shift and a number etc.) act wrong. normally to make a `@` you have to push `Ctrl, Alt and 2` but my com makes it when i push `shift and 2`. So now i cant make the quotation marks that would normally appear. and the problems goes on with all the `alternative keys`. What can i do?

Hmmm...you might have accidently pushed the num lock key or fn key lock. pay attention to what leds are lite near the keyboard.

Otherwise I would see if there was a hotkey driver or keyboard driver from ibm's support website.

I got IBM think pad T49 but it is very slow now. Experts said that i need to reboot this computer to get back normal speed but i lost my reboot CD. could u help me to reboot my thinkpad please

Your only option if you don't have the reboot cd's would be to find a windows xp, vista or windows 7 cd. Install windows and then go to this page to download and install the hardware drivers for your laptop. They have drivers for all the operating systems.
At this point install any software you want to use on your laptop. Be sure to go into your BIOS and set the 1st boot device to the cd drive so that way it boots up automatically from the windows cd.

IBM ThinkPad T40: the problem is the following Modem HSP56 MR( Intel) doesnot work, Other devices:Nework Controller and unknown device doesn't work

Windows is missing the "device-drivers" for your network adapter and your modem.

On a different computer, access IBM's ThinkPad web-site, and download those device-drivers for your T40. Copy the device-drivers to either a CD-writable or to a USB memory-stick.

Move the media to your T40, and install from that removable media.

Use the Restore program.
Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Restore Tools. Then make sure that "Return my computer to an earlier time" is selected, then click NEXT, then click on a date prior to the installation of the keyboard driver, then click NEXT.
Let Restore do it thing and follow the screen instructions.
If you are lucky the T40 will be restored to its previous condition.

Sounds like a non-IBM network card is installed. Remove the card and reboot your laptop.

Problem installing adapters

You are in a catch 22 situation, because you need to download a driver from IBM, Unfortunately the lack of driver is stopping you from going on line. The 2 options you have are to either find the driver disk that came with the computer, or to download the driver on another computer and transfer it to yours. A USB thumb drive works great for the transfer.
