Question about Candy Washing Machines

Open Question

CNA 166 washing machine which has failed a PAT test due to amperage being vented into other parts of the machine when it is switched on. This machine has had little use being located within a museum where it is used to wash white gloves and lab coates and was installed at the end of 2006. Many thanks, Ann Inscker Manager history & Archaeology Team Nottingham City Museums & Galleries

SOURCE: Washer is turning my white clothes gray

Oil from transmission is a good possibility. The machine is still young but sounds like you do a lot with the washer. Better have a friend that don't mind looking it over, make sure that's oil and go from there!

SOURCE: water will not shut off in washing machine

Check to load size selector switch, sounds like tube came off of it. The tube goes from switch to bottom of tube, tells machine what size load and when to turn off water.

SOURCE: Hi,My daughters washing machine (Hoover Nextra HNL

You should have a drain filter. They do become clogged and need to be cleaned out. If the draine filter is clogged you will immediately know it upon removal and inspection. If this is the culprit, be sure to show your daughter how to access it, remove and clean it and then to reinstall it. This can be quite frequent (8 to 12 months) depending on her environment, like allot of pet hair and things like that. Let me know if this is the culprit. By the way, you are going to have to bail as much water out of the drum as posible unless your model has an easy water shut off just prior to the filter. Otherwise, all the water left in the drum will run out of the filter assembly when you remove it. With any luck the filter is the culprit and not the pump.

Lid Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve

If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

My washer isnt adgertating what do i need to do to fix it?

If the lid switch is defective, the washing machine may not agitate or function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. To determine if the lid switch has failed, watch the part testing video at the bottom of this page.

I have a kenmore elite smartwash quietPak9. I continue to get an F11 code and a dL code. What does this mean and can it be fixed?

F11 Serial communication error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the
Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
Possible causes/procedure:
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and
Central Control Unit (CCU).
3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any
cycle.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the
MCU connectors.
F dl Door lock error
A Door Lock Error occurs if the door cannot be locked. It will try to lock
it six times before displaying the error code.
Possible causes/procedure:
¦ Door lock mechanism is broken or removed from door.
¦ Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check door switch/lock unit.
3. Check the wire harness connections to the door
switch/lock unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).
Your tech sheet is attached to the base panel.
Use that tech sheet as a guide for diagnostics.

I have a Ultrima WF860 1600 spin hotpoint washing machine, The control panel keeps reading TEST, and it will not let me programme a wash, i tried switching it off and unplugged it. But TEST keep...

The safety switches that disable (at least) the spin cycle when the door is opened, may have failed. This is a fairly common problem.
To decide if this is a DIY project to replace or whether you need a pro, go to the Sears parts link below and enter your brand and model to see if they have an illustrated parts drawing of your machine which often helps to locate a failed part.
Sears parts dept.
If they have it in their extensive library of appliances, you can often order it as well.

Where are the fuses to the dryer thanks mm email medicalenterprise@hotmail.com

There are 2 items named as thermal fuse item #6 (307473) on heater page and #30 (306604) on the motor page There are 2 other items #11 (303396) Hi-limit on heater page and #26 (306911) operating t-stat on motor page. On electric unit when one of the thermal fuses fails or the hi-limit shorts open. It's recomended to replace all. The primary reason the thermals fail is due to vent restrictions. Inspect and test vent exhaust behind dryer and to the outside is free flowing and not crushed or excessively long. Inspect lint and blower housing for blockage.
