This message tells us to turn the power off and back on. If problem persists, see the manual. There is no manual. What do we do. We have followed instructions and the same message appears each time. We only have a getting started booklet.
-   Just begun installing the new Canon printer MP540 for my dad. The first time when putting the machine "on" the display only says: "6A80 printer error has occured", and the orange light keeps burning on and off. After installing the CD with the print program, nothing changes, its a new printer but it just doesn't get started the first time. There's already normal paper in the front and photopaper in the back, the inktcartridges are placed in the right way. What's the matter?
Writing you from Holland, so keep your answer in simple English if you please... Thanx so much!-   Guest
The error code: 6000 is explained in the service manual as "Paper feed error".
It could be a sensor issue or something that's fallen down/into the printer that's jamming rollers or similar.
I'd check for any paper jams, foreign objects in the rear paper feed, etc..
Given that you have a MP540 I'm guessing it may still be in warranty so if that doesn't solve it I'd recommend taking it back to your retailer and getting it resolved.
Can I ask if this has done this since purchase or just started doing it?

My wife has a Canon MP540 printer.
Her ink system is running out. She lives in Denmark, where things are almost criminally expensive! She has asked me if I can help and, frankly, I can't without your help.
Where ought I / she to look for decent, compatible, inks? Is there such a thing as 'decent, compatible, ink' ?
Where can I find good, easily understood, instructions and do I need to buy some product to re-programme a micro-chip? If so, what do I need, where do I get it?
What would you (personally) feel is the right sort of price to pay for compatible ink and for any gizmo that I/she need to buy to re-programme a so-called 'intelligent' chip?
Monetary answers / estimates in US$, GB£ or European ? (Euros) please, as I can sort of get my head around these currencies without too much trouble.
Best,
HERNS
