A critical firmware error has occurred that caused the processor on the formatter to abort the operation.
After performing the actions above, procede with the following: 1 Turn the printer on. 2 If the error message disappears, reinstall each DIMM and EIO device individually, making sure to turn the printer power off and then on again as you install each device. To replace a DIMM, see Firmware DIMM (LJ 4200/4300 only). 3 Replace the DIMM or EIO device that caused the error message. 4 Remember to reconnect all of the cables that connect the printer to the network or computer. 5 If this error message persists, replace the firmware DIMM
Error 6000 gets displayed when there is a paper jam or other general malfunction. When the message "6000 Printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer
then back on again. If the problem persists, see the manual." Is
displayed, something may block the paper feed tray from opening.
If the printer is surrounded with documents or when you copy
large documents such as books, make sure that you secure the clear space
in front of the tray before printing / copying. When the error message
above is displayed and if you find something is in front of the tray,
remove it. Then, turn OFF the printer and back ON again and the printer
will be ready for printing.
If you still have the trouble, contact the repair service. Check the printer for any paper jam or try to reset the printer to release memory code errors.
1. Press and hold the Resume button for 1 - 2 minutes.
2. Open the cover.
3. Remove the cartridge and then reinstall it.
4. Close the cover.
5. Turn Off the printer.
6. Turn On the printer.
Did you follow the "cancel...." instructions?
Did the problem persist?
Did you contact your local CANON office, and ask for the location of the nearest authorized CANON Service Centre?
If so, what did they say?
Is your printer still under warranty?
Have you exercised the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced?
Unplug printer power supply from wall or powerstrip. Wait 10 minutes then plug in power supply and turn on printer and try again. If problem persists and it is under warranty contact Canon for repair. Otherwise it might be time to buy a new one.
