IBM/Plustek Color Flatbed Scanner
Has anyone gotten the IBM Color Flatbed Scanner (OEM version of Plustek
4830P) parallel port scanner to work on Windows Me? Neither IBM nor
Plustek mention anything other than Windows95/98 drivers at their site but
then again I'm very surprised this device won't work on Windows Me. I've
had it ever since using it on Windows 3.1! Been thru Windows 95, Windows
98, and Windows 98SE with never a problem.
Can't imagine what changed so drastically in Windows Me to cause it to no
longer work. It's virtual device driver, scandev.386, isn't registering
with the application driver anymore. I have tried a completely clean full
Windows Me install but no luck.
Have a new computer, don't have option of going back to Windows 98 SE
without no doubt creating other problems on the preloaded WinMe OEM
configuration.

problems with it i windowsME, have you tried the latest drivers even though
they are for windows98?
also ae you installing it where you want it or where the program wants to
install? the reason being, the installation program doesn't like locations
longer than 8 characters, so if you are installing it in "c:\program
files\scanner" then it must be entered in the old DOS format ie
"c:\progra~1\scanner".
i hope this helps, they may be old scanners, but they're good
