Question about RCA RS2620 Single Cassette Deck

1 Answer

RCA RS2620 - CD works well ocassionally and then not at all

The CD used to work fine. Now it only sometimes reads and plays the CDs. It is inconsistent about which disc of the 5 will work and different CDs. I have tried all the CDs in another player. I have tried opening the case and cleaning with an air blower. I have not yet tried what I think is called a "laser cleaner"

Assistance or advice welcome

How we can use rca rs2620

The question is too vague and unit is said to be a shelf system so when you play something you should get audio out of it right way. Start with the radio- get audio in the speakers then move on to less likely items of failure like the CD player and then cassette if it has one. Systems with everything inside one box are known by everyone to be hard to work on and costly to keep working due to many break downs. They are designed to go 3-4 years and then be replaced.

What are the volt fuses for RCA RS2620? I mean like 150 volts fuses or 200 0r 250?

That would depend on the mains supply of the unit in question. If it has a 250 volt mains supply use a 250 volt fuse. However the crucial one is the amp rating. If it was a 300ma fuse installed a fuse no greater than that should be used. If it was a 2amp fuse a 1.5 could be used, but not a 2.5. Many fuses are fitted with a 250 volt rating in areas where it would never go higher than say 50 volts, such as in the secondary winding of the transformer.

My RCA RS2620 has a shorted D820 and a burned R886. Can anyone recomend replacements / know the value of R 886 or have a schematic of this unit?

hi rnollett,

I just plugged my cousins RCA RS2620 into 220volt mains and burned the transformer because its originally 110 volt rating from canada. If you could please test your units transformer output voltages of RED-BLACK-RED wires so I can tell the technician to rewind the transformer usable to 220volt mains, he is asking me those output voltages and I dont have a clue.
Regarding your D820 and R886 if you have'nt yet found suitable replacements, in return, I will check the values of those parts here and I will send it to you.
Many thanks in advance.

UNIT HAS ALL POWER FUNCTIONS BUT OUTPUTS NO SOUND. ANY SUGGESTIONS. HAVE CHECKED THE SPEAKERS HOOKED TO ANOTHER UNIT SO I KNOW SPEAKERS ARE OK. MY SON IS BRAIN DAMAGED AND NEEDS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO LISTEN...

This comes to mind:
Did you perhaps connect the rca jacks to the record in instead of the play out?
Maybe the rca cable is not plugged in at all on either the receiver end or tape deck end.
Have you tried using a different rca cable?
Did you select the right input on the receiver?
You may try using a different input on the receiver.

I know these sound obvious, but they may fix the problem.
